Prof. Fuh Calistus Spoil Mesaje Youths, Gives Hope and Glory to Donga-Mantung Division on the 56th Edition of Youth Day Celebration in Cameroon

 

Prof. Fuh Calistus Gentry, Minister, Sectary of State at the Ministry of Mines singularly took upon himself on the occasion of the 56^th Edition of Youth Day Celebrations in Cameroon, to celebrate with his siblings in a  special way.

On the occasion, which experienced a huge and a massive turn out at the Misaje ceremonial plaza, the Minister through his several humanitarian network programs of assistance to the needy and community development, doll out scholarship funds, school assistance gadgets and social welfare packages to the people.

In the name of the people he truly represent in government, the honorable Minister on the said occasion proved and renewed his confidence as man of the people through the massive response of the people of Mesaje to his calls for peace and development in the  Sub- Division and by extension, Division.

According to him, and on such an occasions, giving back to the people or community what they essentially need is a duty and the responsibility of an authority or elite from a particular village, Division or Region. Which is why he has continuously taken upon himself the responsibility to always bless the people of his area, with social welfare schemes and amenities.

As a man of his words, humbled by his position, many are a youths from that part of the Region who have been educated, empowered into lucrative business ventures thanks to his humanity people centered development oriented ventures.

Prof. Fuh Calistus man of the people and action on the occasion as leading member of the ruling party the CPDM, also ceased the opportunity to transmit and extend to his people, the head of state’s message of peace, love and unity.

Calling on them to remain law abiding, tolerant and industrious as government seeks for methodic solutions to problems in the youth sector  as the country emerge.

Exceptionally, on the occasion, 10 entrepreneurs, two from each Sub-Division that make up Donga-Mantung, received cash to subsidize their businesses from the honorable Minister under his scholarship fund (DOMASF).

Thumbs up for honorable Minister Prof. Fuh Calistus Gentry as he has also taken upon himself personally the responsibility to over see that youths of his Division have their own fair share of the national youth employment funds through the youth employment council which the Head of State President Paul Biya announced in his last address to the youths on Thursday the 10^th of February 2022.

This year’s 56^th Edition of the youth day celebration in Cameroon was done under the theme “Youth and Economic patriotism: Innovation and Resilience of youths in times of COVID-19”.

My Dear Young Compatriots,

I am addressing you barely a few days following the end of the 33^rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, TotalEnergies AFCON, Cameroon 2021, which our country hosted from 9 January to 6 February 2022.

On the same occasion a year ago, I expressed the wish that TotalEnergies AFCON, Cameroon 2021 would be the most splendid edition of the Africa Cup of Nations ever organized on our continent.

In the end, thanks to the strong mobilization and involvement of all Cameroonians, especially the youth, the sports competition unfolded satisfactorily in several cities of our country, and will certainly be remembered as one of the most successful in the history of African football.

Indeed, there is reason to be satisfied and legitimately proud about TotalEnergies AFCON, Cameroon 2021 as it was unquestionably not only a great moment of communion for all, but also an excellent opportunity and a splendid showcase for Africa and the entire world to appreciate Cameroon’s plentiful endowments and, in particular, the legendary hospitality, the vitality and dynamism of its people. The country thus demonstrated its capacity to address major challenges.

Unfortunately, this major sporting event was marked by the death of eight of our compatriots following a stampede at the South entrance to the Olembe Stadium.

I wish, once again, to honour the memory of the deceased. I also wish a speedy recovery to the injured, for whom I have ordered free comprehensive medical care.

The investigation I ordered and the ensuing measures enabled the reopening of the Olembe Stadium and better traffic flow to the stadium.

Therefore, I can say that this unfortunate incident apart, TotalEnergies AFCON, Cameroon 2021 was a resounding success that brings honour not only to Cameroon, but also to Africa as a whole.

Obviously, our common ambition was to lift the Football Africa Cup of Nations and thus add a sixth trophy to the track record of our Indomitable Lions.

However, fate decided otherwise.

I can understand the disappointment of some, if not, all Cameroonians, especially as the AFCON was hosted on our soil. 

Nonetheless, you are also aware that sport has its own realities that we must accept with dignity and fair-play.

Moreover, football lovers know better than anyone else that you can play well and win a match, just as you can play well and lose. That is why I believe what we must remember at the end of this great sporting festival is the delightful saga of the Indomitable Lions who, throughout, did fairly well.

Their fighting spirit and perseverance earned them an honourable third position.

I heartily congratulate and urge them to step up preparations in order to confidently engage in the sporting competitions that await them in the coming months.

My Dear Young Compatriots,

Despite the lingering global economic crisis, compounded by the adverse effects of the Coronavirus pandemic that has spared no country, your problems and aspirations feature among the major priorities of the current seven-year term.

In that regard, our country kept up its development efforts in the course of the year just ended by leveraging the National Development Strategy 2020-2030 and completing the decentralization process, in line with the major thrusts of its resolute progress towards emergence in 2035.

Thanks to the proper management of our economy, we continued to implement the Three-Year Special Youth Plan, which enabled the financing of 8430 projects, 119 economic clusters and 132 second-generation pioneer villages, as well as the creation of close to 22 000 direct jobs.

Additionally, about forty Multipurpose Youth Empowerment Centres were built and the National Youth Observatory was effectively set up.

The maiden field actions of the observatory have led to the production of 50 000 youth Biometric Cards to facilitate access to many basic social products and services at reduced costs.

With the increasingly visible participation of diasporic youth in nation building, the Government has put in place an incentive framework for their entrepreneurial initiatives through the Support Programme for the Return and Integration of Diasporic Youth.

It is worth restating that Cameroon needs all its children, including those from the Diaspora, who wish to participate and engage in the national and republican drive for our country’s emergence.

Therefore, in the course of the year, the Government intends to further support the call for projects initiative launched to enable diasporic youth to participate in the development of our country.

This ambitious programme is expected, in the long term, to encourage such youth, who so desire, to return and invest in Cameroon and sustainably form part of the national economic fabric.

My Dear Young Compatriots,

Still concerning employment, substantial efforts are made each year to create jobs and thus enable the youth to join the workforce.

Hence, thanks to the youth employment promotion policy included in the Priority Action Plan 2030, 600 000 jobs are expected to be created annually, with the involvement of Regional and Local Authorities.

Such actions will be intensified with the setting up of the National Employment Council, which is expected to provide new solutions to reverse the unemployment trend and improve the productivity of our enterprises.

However, I am aware that the main obstacle in this regard has always been access to the most common funding for small and medium-size enterprises.

That is why, in the short term, the Government plans to mobilize specific national, bilateral and multilateral funding to support the establishment of a guarantee fund for young entrepreneurs.

The said Fund would provide project initiators and start-ups with the requisite guarantee to raise capital from financial markets or obtain financing from traditional banks.

However, many programmes are already being implemented as part of the day-to-day activities of several ministries with high employment potential. The purpose of all of these actions is to foster and boost youth entrepreneurship.

By the way, I am pleased to note that in 2021 all these programmes and projects were financed to the tune of 190 billion CFA francs.

This, unquestionably, is a significant effort that reflects the critical role small and medium-size enterprises play in our economy.

However, Government intends to mobilize additional resources for SMEs with the support of our development partners.

This is because, definitely, small and medium-size enterprises, notably youth entrepreneurship, can and should serve as key drivers of our country’s economic and social transformation.

My Dear Young Compatriots,

The availability of high quality skills that would address new development needs is one of the major challenges currently facing our country.

To that end, we must expand our training offer to provide all young people with the opportunity to acquire useful and relevant skills that would open up employment opportunities in every sphere.

In this light, I recently decided to create three new State universities in the East, North, and South Regions to provide a framework for higher learning conducive to the training of competent and competitive graduates in each of our regions.

In this regard, as you are aware, today’s new global economy is digitally oriented, thus urging us to encourage young people to seize all the opportunities offered by digital communications, through their socio-economic adaptation and application.

I am pleased to note that many of our youth have a remarkable mastery of digital technology, particularly through the creation of numerous start-ups in various fields.

I urge them to be more inventive and creative in the digital economy sector, which has bright prospects for the future.

Yet, while we may commend the rapid adoption of digitalisation by our youth, we condemn the abuses noted in the use of such technological advances, especially on social media where vice, hate speech, and verbal violence abound and are increasingly rife.

Accordingly, I urge our youth to use social media in a responsible, informed, and constructive manner, as their primary role is to provide platforms and opportunities for discussion, information, and communication in a wide range of fields.

My Dear Young Compatriots,

The numerous actions I have just recalled, without being exhaustive, and which, for the most part, are designed to meet your job aspirations and expectations, serve as adequate evidence of the Government of the Republic’s constant solicitude for you.

This is certainly in the best interests of each and every one of you, as well as of the entire Nation whose future lies in your hands.

It also underscores the role young people are expected to play in view of the Nation’s challenges.

According to credible observers, Cameroon has made remarkable strides in its economic and social development. It is resolutely forging ahead towards emergence by 2035.

Despite a challenging economic context, our country is undergoing rapid transformation, and numerous opportunities are available to you in all fields.

 

Take advantage of them not only to achieve personal development, but also to contribute to the task of nation building which constitutes a key challenge for all Cameroonians without exception.

I further urge you to strive to preserve our invaluable achievements of peace, national unity, and institutional stability, for it is thanks to them that we have made the remarkable progress of which we are so proud.

Likewise, turn a deaf ear to the clarion calls for destabilisation and antagonism from incorrigible detractors who claim to know everything and take delight in systematic criticism.

You must also reclaim our social and republican values which, regrettably, it must be said, are fading in the mindsets of today’s youth.

I am thinking particularly of patriotism, civic mindedness, respect for public property and the general interest, culture of probity, preservation of our customs and traditions, family mindedness, and respect for the elderly, to name but a few of such values that should constantly inspire and guide you.

Furthermore, it is also obvious that the perception of our country is influenced by how some of you portray it, both at home and abroad, which unfortunately, has been at odds with reality in recent times.

In other words, you must be aware of your role of promoting Cameroon’s image and influence wherever you may be.

Follow the example of some of your valiant compatriots like Francis NGANNOU, Francis TCHOFFO and Eric Salvador TCHOUYO who recently won titles in their respective disciplines. Their outstanding performances and sense of duty and sacrifice highlighted their great sense of patriotism and did Cameroon proud.

My Dear Young Compatriots,

I cannot conclude this message without reiterating how near and dear to my heart your problems are, and my determination as well as that of the Government to find solutions to them. This is because your future, and consequently that of the entire Nation, depends on it.

Biden Orders US Citizens to Vacate Kyiv as War Scare Mounts, Russia Attack Eminent

State Department orders the families of all American personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine to leave and warns people against traveling to the country citing 'increased threats of Russian military action' 

The State Department early this week on the President’s instructions ordered the families of all American personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine to leave the country amid heightened fears of a Russian invasion.

The department told the dependents of staffers at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv that they must leave the country. It also said that non-essential embassy staff could leave Ukraine at government expense.

The move came amid rising tensions about Russia's military buildup on the Ukraine border that were not eased during talks Friday between Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Geneva.

State Department officials stressed the Kyiv embassy will remain open and that the announcement does not constitute an evacuation. 

The move had been under consideration for some time and does not reflect an easing of U.S. support for Ukraine, the officials said.

In a statement, the State Department noted recent reports that Russia was planning significant military action against Ukraine. However, the Russian Foreign Ministry has accused NATO countries of escalating tensions around Ukraine with disinformation.

The State Department added: 'The security conditions, particularly along Ukraine´s borders, in Russia-occupied Crimea, and in Russia-controlled eastern Ukraine, are unpredictable and can deteriorate with little notice.

Russia denies planning to invade Ukraine and has described the Allied Resolve exercises with Belarus as a rehearsal in repelling external aggression. It has not disclosed the size of its forces there but says they will withdraw after the drills.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said: “Over the last days, we have seen a significant movement of Russian military forces into Belarus. “This is the biggest Russian deployment there since the Cold War, with an expected 30,000 combat troops” as well as Spetsnaz special operations forces, SU-35 fighter jets, S-400 air defence systems and nuclear-capable Iskander missiles, he said.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu arrived in Belarus on Thursday to inspect Russian and Belarusian troops and was due to meet Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, Interfax top security information avails.

Teranga Lions Pick 2021 AFCON in Cameroon against Egypt

 

The first Africa Cup of Nations to be played in Cameroon since 1972 saw Senegal win their first-ever title.

Liverpool star Sadio Mane scored the winning penalty kick, as Senegal beat Egypt 4-2 on penalty kicks after the final finished 0-0 after 120 minutes.

Mane missed a penalty kick early in the final, but he was the hero for The Lions of Teranga.

Mohamed Salah was left in tears, as he and his Egypt teammates just came up short after battling to get to penalty kicks for the fourth-straight game in the knockout rounds.

A tournament ripe with Premier League players and prospects holds sway over an entire continent for nearly a month and it was sensational.

There has not been a repeat winner or finalist at AFCON since Egypt won at home in 2006 before claiming the 2008 tournament title in Ghana and the 2010 edition in Angola.

Algeria beat Senegal 1-0 in 2019 to triumph in Egypt and become the seventh nation to win multiple AFCONs, following Democratic Republic of Congo (1968, 1974), Ivory Coast (1992, 2015), Nigeria (1980, 1994, 2013), Ghana (1963, 1965, 1978, 1982), Cameroon (1984, 1988, 2000, 2002, 2017), and Egypt (1957, 1959, 1986, 1998, 2006, 2008, 2010).

Many are a people who have from the very first day of the Prophetic Declarations made by the Nigerian Prophet been praying and fasting for his Prophecies for the respective matches not to come to pass for relative selfish interests.

That is why, once every aspect of the prophecy came to pass or not, there was always the usual tendency for a deep pronouncement to be made “and it came to pass” in bewilderment.

The Prophetic Declarations it must be noted, came to Pass until the last day. That is the day of the finals of AFCON 2021 that took place at the Olembe stadium on the 06^th of February 2022 pitting Senegal and the Egyptian national teams. Where instead of Egypt, Senegal picked the crown not as prophesied. We are and should be humbled over the fact that Sadio Mane is Jersey number 10 and fetched the trophy for Senegalese a team that is from a Muslim Religious inclined country.

Meaning exactly that, the Prophecies to a maximum extent came to pass and we have no authority to say “and the prophecy did not come to pass completely”.

Whether we like it or not, nobody at this stage of the competition which is the end will deny the fact that the prophet and his Prophecies did not set a premise and precedents that animated the AFCON 2021 competition in Cameroon from the very beginning to the end.

There can never be a perfectly and a completely accurate prophecy. AFCON 2021: Cameroon Eliminated at the Semi finals “And the Prophecy Came to Pass” My Heart Bleeds.. Roland

The prayers and fasting to reverse by Cameroonians or to avert the prophecy of the Nigerian Prophet which went viral on social media platforms and handles finally went in vein and Cameroon was eliminated. True to his words “Cameroon will play the finals before the finals and he sees a Muslim country holding the trophy. Sadio Mane team captain of Senegal also prophesied from the very beginning of the 2021 AFCON that he will play the finals with Mohamed Salah and it has come to pass.

What happened to Cameroon as the host country of the African Nations cup in 1972 at infancy, has come to pass in the year 2022, 50 years after in ripe adulthood. Bad signs!

All attempt to avert what happened in 72 failed in 2022 under a new leadership with all the money, all the encouragement, all the mobilization, all the prayers and above all the individual sacrifices and collective commitments.

One thing, everybody has come to conclude is that under football natural circumstances Cameroon was defeated on the pitch by the Egyptians but beyond the physical, the defeat speak volumes.

Volume in the strict sense of it that all the living forces in Cameroon were all at sleep. Who vexed the gods? What was not done or should have been done? Is the question.

Coming back to the nation, remember the prophet in his words  about Nigeria said,  “they will play well in the first round but will come back empty because the house is divided”. Cameroon entangled in all the socio economic and political crisis plus all the security challenges on earth you can imagine, what do we expect? Doom of course. The flesh is willing but the soul of the system is depleted.

Now looking back at 1972 and onto 2022 what are the lessons Cameroon learned under Ahidjo and did not correct under Biya because what happened on the 3^rd of February 2022 was beyond human apprehension to host twice and unable to pick the crown once.

Shall we now say Cameroon is cursed or doomed never to host and win the trophy? There is still much yet undisclosed or uncovered about the last defeat of the Cameroon national team.

The night of the defeat of the Lions, right up to where we report appears to be too long as most sport lovers, fans and sympathizer are yet to believe what happened or still day dreaming.

One thing is clear and certain, on the 3^rd of February 2022 Cameroon was eliminated at the Semi finals through penalty shoot out and the sad memories enters football achieves and Cameroonians will live to regret it.

The third position in the games remains the last hope and option for the Cameroonians national team in order not to host and leave empty handed.

To rest my analysis or case, in 1972 the reunification question was up when we lost the African Nations cup we hosted, fifty (50) years after in 2022 hosting for the second time, the question of independence and sovereign right is up by Anglophones wanting separation through war. In your or our humble opinions what should we have expected other than defeat? With all the serial killings, blood flow and Mafia. God have Mercy.
