HEAD OF STATE’S NEW YEAR MESSAGE TO THE NATION

********

Fellow Cameroonians,

My dear compatriots,

I am convinced that you understand why I am beginning this traditional message by talking about the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic on our planet. In this regard, 2020 will undoubtedly be remembered as a dark year marked by hundreds of thousands of deaths worldwide.

Like almost all countries, Cameroon was affected, perhaps less severely than other States. Despite our efforts, COVID-19 plunged many families into mourning and seriously hampered the functioning of our economy and society.

I take this opportunity to hail once more the dedication of our physicians, nurses and health personnel as a whole, thanks to whom many lives have been and continue to be saved.

It is perhaps too early to try to draw lessons from this painful episode which, moreover, is continuing. Needless to recall that this pandemic is not the first and history has it that epidemics wiped out entire populations, the most recent occurring in the wake of the First World War.

Should man take the blame because of his wanton exploitation of the planet’s natural resources and his constant engagement in conflicts eading to massacres and diseases, as well as experiments to develop new weapons?  I believe the question needs to be asked. Whatever the answer, our era should take credit for clearly posing the problem of the relationship between man and his natural environment. This was, I believe, the objective of the Paris Conference on Global Warming, whose recommendations are still relevant today.

In any case, we should not rest on our laurels. I have personally observed that most of our fellow citizens no longer comply with the protective measures prescribed by the Government.

At a time when, everywhere else, there is a second wave of the epidemic, coupled with the appearance of a new and more contagious strain of the virus, I urge you once again to put on your face masks, to wash your hands regularly and to consult a physician or any other health personnel if you notice any symptoms. This is the only way to save lives and to curb the spread of the virus.

My dear compatriots,

Our focus on the health situation did not prevent us from devoting ourselves to other essential tasks related to the management of our country, namely:

- maintaining security and peace throughout our national territory;

- strengthening our democratic process; and

- pursuing our economic, social and cultural development programme.

In recent years, our country has been facing external threats, particularly on our eastern border and in the northern part of our country.

In the first case, the threat comes from highway robbers lured by easy prey, namely peaceful stockbreeders and their herds.

In the second, the threat now takes the form of isolated raids by Boko Haram or suicide bomb attempts by teenagers. The effective vigilance and action of our Defence and Security Forces have significantly reduced the activities of these criminals.

The situation is different in the North-West and South-West Regions where armed groups maintain an atmosphere of terror and insecurity. They attack isolated communities and educational institutions from time to time to discourage parents from sending their children to school. The list of atrocities and crimes committed by these groups is already long. One of the most heinous of them is that which took place in Kumba recently, resulting in the death of seven school children with several others injured.

This crime, which is a shock to the human conscience, will not go unpunished. All the perpetrators will be hunted down relentlessly and brought to justice. Already, public opinion, particularly in the two regions concerned, can realize, if that is not yet the case, that these so-called “secessionists” are actually nothing more than murderers, and what is more, murderers of innocent children.  To say that the Kumba carnage caused widespread outrage is an understatement.

I would now like to appeal, once more, to the sense of responsibility of the friendly countries hosting the sponsors and of the organizations financing and running the armed gangs in the North-West and South-West Regions, through various channels. All those who would be identified at the end of investigations as initiators or accomplices of these odious crimes will answer for their actions.

Yet our Government has continued to demonstrate its commitment to openness and dialogue by, for example, releasing many former secessionists and facilitating their reintegration into society.

Furthermore, after the Major National Dialogue, the Government fast-tracked the implementation of an ambitious decentralization policy which includes a special status for our North-West and South-West Regions, which takes into account their specificities and aspirations.

I once more urge the youths who have been enlisted in armed gangs to come out of the bush and sign up with the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) centres in order to return to a normal life, like their other young compatriots.

The prevailing insecurity in the North-West and South-West Regions has caused untold damage to our country. Our democracy allows for the peaceful expression of all opinions, in compliance with the laws and regulations in force. Otherwise, peace and stability would be jeopardized.

I hail the patriotic spirit of those of our fellow citizens in the North-West and South-West Regions who are not only increasingly cooperating with the Defence and Security Forces, but are also courageously fighting these armed gangs. They have realized that these gangs are not acting in the interest of the people.

I would also like to commend here the bravery of our Defence and Security Forces that have not failed in their duty to protect the integrity of the national territory, the people and property. They deserve the respect and consideration of everyone. I encourage them to keep it up and to remain a republican force that respects human rights.

It is equally regrettable that some of our compatriots, who rallied around a personality who failed to achieve his ambitions during the last presidential election, took advantage of security and health difficulties to try to stir up a revolt falsely referred to as “peaceful marches”. Fortunately, very few people took part in these marches, thanks to the maturity of Cameroonians.

Needless to recall that in a democracy, access to political office is secured through the ballot box and not through the street, certain media organs or social media networks.

This is precisely the case in Cameroon where the democratic process is being conducted in accordance with the provisions of our Constitution and the rules laid down by our laws, as amply illustrated by the following recent happenings:

- In March 2018, the term of office of Senators was renewed.

- In October 2018, the Head of State was elected with an overwhelming majority.

- In February 2020, legislative elections were held, with the Government securing a comfortable majority in the National Assembly.

- On the same date, municipal elections put an end to the system of government delegates in major towns, which are now managed by elected mayors.

- In December 2020, regional elections completed the implementation of the provisions of the decentralization process.

Thus, with each passing day, our political will to implement the democratic agenda that is in line with the genuine aspirations of the Cameroonian people is further strengthened, an agenda initiated upon my accession to the helm of State and which led, a few years later, to the institution of the multiparty system.

To those who are criticizing the imperfections of our democracy, I would like to say that it took us just a few decades to put it in place. The major democratic countries, for their part, did so only after several centuries marked by revolutions, civil wars and even episodes of dictatorship.

For my part, I am well aware of all that is still to be done. I am, however, convinced that we are on the right track and that soon we will all be proud of our democratic progress.

My dear compatriots,

It must be acknowledged that the international context - in particular the coronavirus pandemic and the decline in global growth – took a toll on the performance of our public finance and our economy during the year that is drawing to an end.

While maintaining our growth targets, we had to take fiscal consolidation and economic support measures in order to weather these difficult times and enable the implementation of a recovery policy in 2021.

Thus, a decision was taken to finalize African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2021 and Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2022 projects, and to continue to implement plans for the reconstruction and development of the North-West, South-West and Far-North Regions.

Despite these efforts, it is expected that our growth rate, which had stabilized at around 4% in recent years, will witness a sharp decline in 2020 and that inflation will inch up. This is undoubtedly due to the impact of the global economic downturn and our domestic economic trends, especially the increase in security spending.

Nonetheless, Cameroon’s economy has maintained a certain capacity to rebound despite the difficulties. Thanks to support from our international partners and, in the event of a decline in the pandemic, there is reason to hope for recovery in the coming months.

In the same vein, I would now like to draw your attention to the recent launch of our National Development Strategy (NDS) which replaces the Growth and Employment Strategy Paper (GESP) that has come to an end.

The National Development Strategy defines the main thrusts of our planning up to 2030. The document draws lessons from past experiences and sets new goals for the next decade, notably the structural transformation of our economy and inclusive development.

It will therefore be necessary to step up the fight against poverty, unemployment and the lingering informal sector. It will also be necessary to strive to achieve an 8% growth rate by embarking on the structural transformation of our economy and enhancing the effectiveness of public spending. In so doing, we will put all the odds of achieving emergence by 2035 on our side.

Naturally, we will also continue to implement our social development policy which was defined at the start of the current seven-year term concerning youth employment, education, health and family.

These, my dear compatriots, are the outlines of the action that the Government has, despite the difficulties, strove to implement in recent months and that it will continue to implement in the coming years, which will be crucial for our progress towards emergence.

I am convinced that we will be able to achieve our objectives, provided that we agree to make the required efforts and to embark on the needed reforms.

Fellow Cameroonians,

My dear compatriots,

The year that is ending has not been an easy one. We had to meet many major challenges. We must remain united and determined, like in the past. The Cameroonian people have always risen to the challenges facing them.

We should be proud of this.

Happy and Prosperous New Year to you all.

Long live the Republic!

Long live Cameroon!

2020 End of Year Message From Honourable NGALA Gerard NDOMBANG, Member of Parliament For Donga Mantung Centre Constituency.

It's a great honour for me to attempt a balance sheet of the year that will soon run out, while making projections into the New Year. The year 2020 was a very rough one to most economies around the world and Cameroon, our beloved fatherland was not spared. The covid-19 pandemic dealt a serious blow to almost every aspect of our national life. Thanks to the foresight of the Head of State, president Paul Biya,  the ravaging effects of this deadly pandemic were both mitigated and contained. My deepest sympathy goes to the families that lost their loved ones as a result of this ravaging Pandemic.

The president of the Republic signed a Finance Ordinance paving the way for the National Assembly to modify the initial state budget as a stop gab measure to downplay the adverse effects of this global health crisis. Despite the economic setbacks Cameroon experienced due to covid-19, it was equally another opportunity for our economy to test her resilience. The 9th February Legislative and Municipal Elections went on as planned. This paved the way for the Regional Elections which was organised on December 6th 2020; the final step towards the putting in place of an effective decentralisation in Cameroon as well as the eventual implementation of the Special Status to the North West and South West regions: a vital outcome of the Major National Dialogue. The cultural specifications of these two regions shall be greatly enhanced by this new arrangement.

The ten regions of Cameroon shall henceforth enjoy a considerable degree of autonomy, a springboard towards our growing democracy and our quest for greater participation in matters of development. It's our turn to exploit this opportunity and forge ahead despite the hurdles.

We hail the education stakeholders of our country especially those in the North West and South West regions for braving the odds to make sure the right to education of the children of these regions were never compromised. Some of them achieved this even at the peril of their own lives, very sad indeed. The Kumba macabre incident remains fresh in our minds. May the souls of these martyrs of education receive Divine justice.

As the new year draws near, we bid farewell to 2020 with a heavy heart. A year with lots of downs, Covid 19 with its ramifications on businesses, education and most especially our health, the Ngarbuh incident, the Kumba massacre which let to loss of civilian lives many of them children.  Even as our pillows were soaked in tears with these unfortunate incidents , attempts were made to exploit such misfortunes for political earns. Quite strange. Politics remains a competition of ideas and impact, never a mischievous adventure. With all these challenges, the state as usual stood it grounds to mobilise resources to fight the deadly global pandemic, establish responsibilities in various macabre incidents and bringing the culprits to book.

A careful examination of challenges in our urban settings especially the poor waste management scheme, inspired me to nurture this project of full transition from linear to Circular Economy by initiating the Parliamentary Network for Circular Economy (PANCEC), a few months into my parliamentary activities. The project is on track, expected to generate almost five thousand green jobs by militating that all councils of Cameroun attain Financial Autonomy by embarking on Circular Economy. This initiative to revamp our national economy considering the changes brought by the Corona Virus, was after a careful analysis embraced by the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Right Honourable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, who signed an order creating PANCEC on September 3rd 2020. The initiative which is not only an option for government to help decentralized local communities to attain financial autonomy, is a unique opportunity for my humble person to support the Head of State in the implementation of effective decentralization and the attainment of the emergence goal come 2035. This was preceded by an elective convention during which my humble self was elected president of the Executive Bureau.

The new year which  is pregnant with hope and great expectations starts with a lot of hope as the Head of State on the 30/12/2020 signed a decree that brought up and hamonised  the retirement age to 60 years for categories A and B civil servants. Africa and the rest of the world shall turn their attention to Cameroon as we play host to African Nations Championship, CHAN. The world class sporting infrastructures put in place by the government is a mark of readiness and it is our fervent wish that the football fans feed their anxiety with great spectacle from this soccer jamboree.

All structures have been put in place for effective decentralisation to take effect next year; the regional councils, the city councils and the councils. This coupled with the anticipated budgetary upsurge to these local collectivities inspire hope of greater participation, accountability and consequently the enhancement of sustainable development. It shall be up to us to take advantage of the available opportunities offered us.

We shall continue to work tirelessly towards the disarmament, demobilisation and deradicalisation of the ex-secessionist fighters for an eventual reintegration into the society through the provision of jobs and other forms of income generating activities.  This shall continue to systematically improve the security situation in the restive regions of North West and South West of Cameroon. This is a prerequisite to improve the education and health facilities as well as road networks, and the marshal plan for the reconstruction of the battered regions.

At the local level, we're working very hard to keep our campaign promises. We won against the backdrop of security concerns and wanton destructions. Our campaign slogan "Peace Crusader, to Rebuild and Restore our Community" is gradually being transformed into concrete reality. Back to School is already a dream come true in all the five Subdivisions of Donga Mantung Division in particular and the two English Speakling Regions in general with little foot dragging notwithstanding in some areas. More and more people are returning home to take up their normal daily activities. This is thanks to the consistent efforts we've made towards restoring peace and serenity.

In the domain of road infrastructure, the Magba-Kakar stretch is under construction thanks to our efforts. This is the main corridor that links Donga Mantung to the rest of the country since the blockage of the Kumbo- Ndu stretch is still very effective. In Nkambe town, most roads have been graded with gutters and some bridges constructed but for the fact that the Kumbo Quarry which supplies aggregates for tarring is down as a result of the crisis, those  streets would have been tarred by now . The Binshua-Binjeng-Binka road has been graded and the Mamba bridge at Kungi under construction. The Binjeng-Binshua bridge has been constructed as well.

Fon's Palace Tabenken, GHS Tabenken and Bondu quarters have been electrified to further serve Mbibu, Njilah and Kudu quarters. GTC Tabenken went operational less than one month after official announcement creating the school thanks to our timely intervention. We constructed two blocks of six classrooms in GS Bondu to provide an enabling environment for teaching and learning. All these are part of our campaign promises that we realised in less than nine months in office. We intend to spread our tentacles to other parts of the constituency as normalcy continues to gain momentum.

We are grateful to the dynamic team that make things happen in our constituency. I salute the dynamism of the Mayors of Nkambe and Ndu and the selfless elites who compliment our efforts at every given opportunity. The ease with which this synergy bears fruits has been so far very satisfactory.

We thank the different media organs, development associations and NGOs who trailed our activities sometimes crediting our efforts with very encouraging awards. To those who were critical of our efforts, we took notice and pray next time they don’t do so as a form of blackmail but as  way to bring their contribution to trigger the positive energy in me to do better.

As we remember the 39 who recently perished in a ghastly accident on the Bafoussam-Yaounde highway, we pray for speedy recovery for those who suffered injuries of varying magnitude. We cease this opportunity to extend our condolence to families who've lost love ones in the course of this year sometimes under very tragic circumstances. I  hereby exhort all travel agencies and road users to take all necessary precautions to preserve the lives of Cameroonians on our highways.

This new year ushers in another opportunity for us to rise to the pinnacle of sustainable endeavours. We pray for a good dose of courage needed to surmount the obstacles we might encounter on our path. As former US president Thomas Jefferson puts it: "nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude". A man's character is his fate.

Happy new year 2021 fellow compatriots.

President General Nigerian Union Bamenda, Offers thanks Giving Mass after Last Attempt on Life by Gunmen

The tragic incident took place on the 18th of November 2020 at Azire New Church Junction Bamenda around the early hours of 8:00 Pm where a gang of hired assassins trailing the President from church to kill, fired four times on his car but he miraculously escaped with sustained injuries which was immediately handled through strict Medical attention thereafter by a cream of specialized Medical Doctors of the St. Mary Hospital.

Thank God, he responded to treatment and after regaining health quickly Prince Ituen Otobong chose to come back to the house of God and give him all the thanks for sparing his life through special Grace.

In so doing he invited the Nigerian community who gathered in their numbers at the Church of Christ to jointly and joyfully praise God for saving the life of their President.

That was on Sunday the 13 of December 2020 at Independent street Bamenda, where Mass took place. During the high point of the praise and thanks giving service, one of the chief celebrant Evangelist Andrew Ihedi in his preaching and teachings called on all present to see the “Hand of God in every situation” whether good or Bad. That God knows why and how in every situation, which is why he is in special control of every situation.

The President General of the Nigerian Union who doubles as a Minister of God, Chief celebrant and convener of the said thanks giving service on his part, recounted how he narrowly escaped death thrice since November 2018 till date and the last one almost took his life away,  a month ago this 2020. In one he had a car accident, the other was fire consuming his car and the most recent were hired Gunmen who opened fire at him in the car four times. To God be the glory, he recounted calling on all Nigerians to believe in the power of God and shun all fear.

Speaking to the Press in a rather hopeful tongue, he praised the Lord for what happened, called on God to forgive those hired to assassinate him and thanked the Nigerian community for their spiritual, moral and material support. In another direction, he encouraged his Nigerian counterparts not to be scared of what happened to him, that they should go about their business activities and have nothing to do with the internal crisis affecting Cameroon. He added, that the Cameroon government should seek for fast ways on ending the armed conflict as it escalates.

“North West Treasury is Waxing Strong, with Structured and Chronological Payments Made to Beneficiaries Daily” Nopoudem Fernand TPG

This very important information was devorged to the press on the 9th of December 2020 in Bamenda at the Regional Finance payment center.

Taking time out, the Emblematic and dynamic Treasury Paymaster General took out time to explain how the main Regional Payment Centre irrespective of the socio political crisis which has caused the drastic drop of revenue continues to survive the circumstance with prompt payments made and adequate services rendered.

Payments, he reiterated are done as they are programmed systematically and Chronological without favor following strict terms and measures laid down by the Honourable Minister of Finance to ensure quick, effective and secured payments to service providers of the state.

Hear him “we of the Regional treasury have the Paramount responsibility to facilitate the State's financial transaction with the public, business operators and our obligation as Regional Payment auxiliaries is to do so in strict respect of the law while giving them maximum satisfaction”.

According to him, when once the Treasury family in the Regions exercise their functions well without lapses, there is bound to be smooth economic flow and transactions, hence a healthy economic environment is created to encourage business and investment.

Looking at the impact of the socio political Crisis, he regretted the situation with great optimism that things will one day be better  if and only if each an every one contribute his or her own quota judisciouly to help build Cameroon.

To service providers and contractors, he encouraged them to hold their trust firm with government and to keep on with their Regallian activities of accompanying the state in making Cameroon emergency through smooth economic realization and transactions at this much expected moment that the country is witnessing much transitional aspects and developments in the domain of effective decentralization to a defined status.

The over 20 years in service Senior Finance inspector Mr Fernand, this Reporter must emphasis,  is a graduate from ENAM, who has held several posts of responsibilities in the Ministry of Finance, coming from Nkongsamba central treasury, is the 16th TPG to head Bamenda Central Treasury since it's creation and operation..

MINAT Boss Statement on the Occasion of Pionneer Regional Election Held in Cameroon

ELECTION OF REGIONL COUNCILLORS

STATEMENT OF THE MINISTER OF TERRITORIAL ADMINISTRATION

The election of Regional Councillors convened by the presidential decree of 7 September 2020 took place today Sunday 6 December 2020 in all the 58 electoral constituencies.

10 236 municipal councillors and 14 002 traditional rulers, members of the electoral colleges, were called upon to vote nine hundred (900) first Regional Councillors in the political history of our country. The first, that is municipal councillors were to vote seven hundred (700) divisional delegates, while the latter, traditional rulers, were to elect two hundred (200) representatives of the traditional chiefdoms.

For this election, the Minister of Territorial Administration granted accreditations to 3457 observers, who freely went to these electoral constituencies nationwide. We are now waiting for their reports.

In compliance with the regulations in force, the polls started in the 272 polling stations at 8 a.m. and ended at 6 p.m.

Considering that this election is held in a special context marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, Elections Cameroon took important precautions, in each polling station, for the respect of barrier measures in compliance with Government’s health protocol (taking of temperature, use of hand sanitizers, wearing of face mask, social distancing and hand washing with soap).

In his capacity as Government’s Agent in the electoral process, the Minister of Territorial Administration and administrative authorities provided optimum security to Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), independent body in charge of the entire electoral process.

From the opening of voting stations to closing at 6 p.m., Administrative Authorities gave a minute-by-minute report of this process in all the electoral constituencies in Cameroon.

At this moment, the Minister of Territorial Administration can say in clear terms that the election of Regional Councillors took place nationwide in a serene, calm and peaceful atmosphere.

No incident, likely to cast doubt on the credibility of the polls or sincerity of the results from the ballot box, was recorded.

This is an opportunity for the Minister of Territorial Administration to commend once again the irreversible choice of the Head of State, His Excellency Paul BIYA, who has always instructed the speeding up of the decentralisation process in Cameroon.

The Minister of Territorial Administration would also like to sincerely thank the Head of State who provided all the needed means to all the election stakeholders to ensure a hitch-free election today.

The Head of State, His Excellency Paul BIYA, has often insisted on the significance of boosting the decentralisation process, the advantage of which, as we all know, is to guarantee the development of Cameroon by granting to all the Regions of the country equal opportunities for their development.

The proclamation of the results of this election will start as from today by the Regional Supervisory Commission. In conformity with the legal provisions in force, the sessions as of right shall meet shortly to elect Regional Organs.

The putting in place of Regional Councils will establish the special status for the North-West and South-West Regions; a strong recommendation of the Major National Dialogue convened by the Head of State, His Excellency Paul BIYA and presided over by the Prime Minister, Head of Government.

As such, The House of Chiefs shall be the exclusive specificity of the North-West and South-West Regions.

As a matter of fact, no local election will ever raise such enthusiasm and passion. The reason is simple; the election of Regional councillors today has come to complete the setting up of institutions provided for by the Constitution of our country.

This election will bring the administration closer to the people and guarantee to each Region close development in the sense that citizens, at all levels, sit in Regional Councils and participate effectively from the base in constructing our common destiny.

It is therefore a historic opportunity that is opened to our country with this election of Regional Councillors. Obviously, there will be winners and losers as is the case in any election; but for the Head of State, His Excellency Paul BIYA, it is rather Cameroon that is the great winner in this process, which establishes the setting up of Regional Councils and Regional Organs.

Today’s winners must always solicit the competence of the losers and the losers must exercise good faith by putting the interest of Cameroon above any personal or partisan interest.

Once again, the election of Regional Councillors has showed the maturity of the sovereign people of Cameroon, and master of their destiny, which has just demonstrated, more than ever before, that political legitimacy is obtained through the ballot box and by street protests or on social media.

The election of Regional Councillors of today will be a landmark in the current mandate of Greater Opportunities. Under the enlightened leadership of the tireless builder, His Excellency Paul BIYA, the future is bright for Cameroon. We should all take advantage of it.

Once again, I am declaring that today’s election went on in total calm, serenity and transparency throughout the national territory.

Thank you for your rapt attention.

Patrice Motsepe Likely New CAF President?

MISMANAGEMENT OF FUNDS, ABUSE OF POSITION: CAF PRESIDENT AHMAD AHMAD BANNED FOR FIVE Years

The President of the Confederation of African Football, CAF Ahmad Ahmad has been banned from all sporting related activities for the next five years by Football governing body FIFA.

The FIFA ethics committee found “Ahmad had breached his duty of loyalty, offered gifts and other benefits, mismanaged funds and abused his position as the CAF President.”

“The adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee has found Ahmad Ahmad, the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and a FIFA Vice-President, guilty of having breached art. 15 (Duty of loyalty), art. 20 (Offering and accepting gifts or other benefits) and art. 25 (Abuse of position) of the 2020 edition of the FIFA Code of Ethics, as well as art. 28 (Misappropriation of funds) of the 2018 edition,” the statement read.

“The investigation into Mr Ahmad’s conduct in his position as CAF President during the period from 2017 to 2019 concerning various CAF-related governance issues, including the organisation and financing of an Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca, his involvement in CAF’s dealings with the sports equipment company Tactical Steel and other activities.”

“In its decision, following an extensive hearing, the adjudicatory chamber ruled that, based on information gathered by the investigatory chamber, Mr Ahmad had breached his duty of loyalty, offered gifts and other benefits, mismanaged funds and abused his position as the CAF President, under the FIFA Code of Ethics.

“Consequently, the adjudicatory chamber found that Mr Ahmad had breached arts 15, 20 and 25 of the current edition of the FIFA Code of Ethics, as well as art. 28 of the 2018 edition, and sanctioned him with a ban from all football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) at both national and international level for five years. Also, a fine of CHF 200,000 has been imposed on Mr Ahmad.”

Ahmad’s first four-year term was clouded with allegations of financial wrongdoing and misconduct at the Confederation of African Football headquarters in Cairo. He was detained by French authorities in Paris on the eve of the Women’s World Cup for questioning about a CAF equipment deal with a company that appeared to have little connection with soccer.

The Ban for the Malagy comes at a time when he has been seeking re-election as President of CAF. 46 African football Federations had called for Ahmad to seek a second mandate, which he fittingly obliged. The CAF election is scheduled for March 12 in Rabat, Morocco.

A Clear Road for Patrice Motsepe of South Africa?

Patrice Motsepe, chairman of 2016 African club champions Mamelodi Sundowns is seen as the front contender for the CAF Presidency. With Ahmad Ahmad’s ban, the tagline may just be true.

Ahmad’s ban leaves the number of candidates for the Presidency to three; Jacques Anouma of Ivory Coast, Augustine Senghor, the head of the Senegalese Football Federation and Patrice Motsepe of South Africa.

“Motsepe can contest the position since he fulfils the requirements of having been involved in football for the past five years, with the South African having led Pretoria-based Sundowns since 2004, and has received the backing of his federation,” BBC Sports Africa reported.

“Caf must improve its global standing,” said South Africa FA president Danny Jordaan. “He is the most appropriate person we could offer for the leadership of Caf. We do not want any compromise on governance or ethics in football.”

“He has more superior qualities than me,” Pinnick told BBC Sport Africa. “It’s not about me, it’s about African football. If you have someone with superior qualities, you have to learn from him and queue behind him and wait for your time.”

“The key to successful governance starts from the point where the right person or persons are put in the right positions for the right reasons,” said Sierra Leone FA president Isha Johansen. “African football and the African continent need to be on the global platform for the right reasons

President General of Nigerian Union Bamenda, Prince Ituen Otocbong Shot Yesterday by Unidentified Gun Men

President General of Nigerian Union Bamenda, Prince Ituen Otocbong Shot Yesterday by Unidentified Gun Men

That was yesterday the 18th of November 2020 at around 8:00 pm at Azire New Church Junction returning from church. News avails that the unidentified gun men trailed him on a motor bike and open fire four times. He is presently responding to Medical attention awaiting surgical operation in a Bamenda based renown hospital which for security reasons we prefer to hide.

It should be noted that this tragic incident is happening basically some few days after he rounded his tour with subjects from the various Nigerian states represented in the North West Region of Cameroon most especially in the heart of the Anglophone Crisis which is deepening.

At press time speculations holds that the said Gunmen, may be hired assassins to eliminate the President. What for?, is the 1$ question which is leaving the public in confusion and the Nigerian community in deep sorrow.

Tongues are still wagging as the population in bewilderment question how and when did Nigerians suddenly become a target of the Anglophone war of Independence. Affair a suite as we follow up the situation closely…

Former Ghanaian President Jerry John Rawlings Passes on at 73

Ghana's Former President, Jerry John Rawlings is no more..

He died in the early hours of Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

The news was confirmed by sources close to the family of the former President and that for the past few years he has been battling with serious health complicated problems.

Reports indicate that ex-President Rawlings was brought to the National Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle But Teaching Hospital three days ago.

He was subsequently transferred to the Intensive care unit of the hospital on Wednesday, November 11 where he passed away the following day.

Mr. Rawlings buried his late mother Madam Victoria Agbotui in October 2020.

Madam Agbotui died at the age of 101.

About Jerry John Rawlings

Jerry John Rawlings was born June 22, 1947.

He was a former military leader and subsequent politician who ruled Ghana from 1981 to 2001 and also a brief period in 1979.

He led a military junta until 1992, and then served two terms as the democratically elected President of Ghana.

Rawlings initially came to power in Ghana as a flight lieutenant of the Ghana Air Force following a coup d’état in 1979.

Prior to that, he led an unsuccessful coup attempt against the ruling military government on 15 May 1979, just five weeks before scheduled democratic elections were due to take place.

After initially handing power over to a civilian government, he took back control of the country on 31 December 1981 as the Chairman of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC).

In 1992, Rawlings resigned from the military, founded the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and became the first President of the Fourth Republic. He was re-elected in 1996 for four more years.

After two terms in office, the limit according to the Ghanaian Constitution, Rawlings endorsed his Vice-President John Atta Mills as presidential candidate in 2000.

Education and military career

Rawlings finished his secondary education at Achimota College in 1967.

He joined the Ghana Air Force shortly afterwards.

In March 1968, he was posted to Takoradi, in Ghana’s Western Region, to continue his studies.

He graduated in January 1969, and was commissioned as a Pilot Officer, winning the coveted “Speed Bird Trophy” as the best cadet in flying the Su-7 ground attack supersonic jet aircraft as he was skilled in aerobatics.

He earned the rank of Flight Lieutenant and in April 1978.

During his service with the Ghana Air Force, Rawlings perceived a deterioration in discipline and morale due to corruption in the Supreme Military Council (SMC).

As promotion brought him into contact with the privileged classes and their social values, his view of the injustices in society hardened.

He was thus regarded with some unease by the SMC.

After the 1979 coup, he involved himself with the student community of the University of Ghana, where he developed a more leftist ideology through reading and discussion of social and political ideas.

Joe Biden “Most Democratically Elected Democrat” Breaks Rules of the Game “One US President, one Mandate” Hence Forth

US 46th President Joe Biden’s victory Speech Cum Address to the Nation

Here is the full transcript of what he said in his victory speech:

Hello, my fellow Americans and the people who have brought me to the dance, Delawareans.

I see my buddy, senator Tom Carper, down there, and I think Senator Coons is there and I think the Governor is around and former governor Ruth Ann Minner.

Most importantly, my sisters-in-law, my sister Valerie.

Anyway, folks, the people of this nation have spoken.

They have delivered us a clear victory, a convincing victory, a victory for we, the people.

We've one with the most votes ever cast for a presidential ticket in the history of the nation — 74 million.

What I must admit has surprised me tonight, we have seen all over this nation, all cities and all parts of the country — and indeed across the world — an outpouring of joy, of hope, renewed faith in tomorrow to bring a better day.

And I am humbled by the trust and confidence you have placed in me.

Referring to tense political differences in the US, Joe Biden said: "It's time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature, see each other again, listen to each other again and to make progress."(Reuters: Jonathan Ernst)

I pledge to be a president who seeks not to divide, but unify, who doesn't see red states and blue states, only sees the United States, and work with all of my heart, with the confidence of the whole people, to win the confidence of all of you. And for that is what America, I believe, is all about.

It's about people and that's what our administration will be all about.

I sought this office to restore the soul of America.

To rebuild the backbone of this nation, the middle class, and to make America respected around the world again, and to unite us here at home.

It is the honour of my lifetime that so many millions of Americans have voted for that vision.

And now, the work of making that vision is real. It is a task, the task of our time.

Folks, as I said many times before, I'm Jill's husband. And I would not be here without her love and tireless support of Jill and my son Hunter and Ashley my daughter, and all of our grandchildren and their spouses and all of our family. They're my heart.

Jill is a mum, and military mum, an educator. She has dedicated her life to education but teaching isn't just what she does, it is who she is.

For American educators, this is a great day for you all.

You're going to have one of your own in the White House and Jill is going to make a great first lady. I am so proud of her.

I'll have the honour of serving with a fantastic vice-president who you have just heard from, Kamala Harris, who makes history as the first woman, the first Black woman, the first woman from South Asian descent, the first daughter of immigrants ever elected in this country.

Don't tell me it's not possible in the United States. It's long overdue.

And we're reminded tonight of those who fought so hard for so many years to make this happen.

Once again, America's bent the arc of the moral universe more towards justice.

Kamala, Doug, like it or not, you're family. You become an honorary Biden. There's no way out.

Space to play or pause, M to mute, left and right arrows to seek, up and down arrows for volume.

To all of those who volunteered and worked the polls in the middle of this pandemic, local elected officials, you deserve a special thanks from the entire nation.

And to my campaign team and all of the volunteers and all who gave so much of themselves to make this moment possible. I owe you, I owe you, I owe you everything.

And to all those who supported us, I am proud of the campaign we built and ran.

I am proud of the Coalition we put together.

The broadest and most diverse coalition in history — Democrats, Republicans, independents, progressives, moderates, conservatives, young, old, urban, suburban, rural, gay, straight, transgender, white, Latino, Asian, Native American.

I mean it, especially those moments and especially those moments when this campaign was at its lowest ebb, the African American community stood up again for me.

You've always had my back and I'll have yours.

I said at the outset, I wanted to represent, this campaign to represent and look like America.

We've done that and now that's what the administration will look like and act like.

For all of those who voted for President Trump, I understand the disappointments tonight. I have lost a couple of times myself, but now let's give each other a chance.

It's time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature, see each other again, listen to each other again and to make progress. We have to stop treating our opponents as our enemies.

They are not our enemies, they're Americans. They're Americans.

People have celebrated Joe Biden's win over Donald Trump in the streets.(AP: Charlie Riedel)

The Bible tells us to everything there is a season, a time to build, a time to ripe and a time to sow, and a time to heal.

This is the time to heal in America.

Now this campaign is over, what is the will of the people? What is our mandate?

I believe it's this — Americans have called upon us to marshal the forces of decency, the forces of fairness, to marshal the forces of science and the forces of hope in the great battles of our time.

The battle to control the virus. The battle to build prosperity. The battle to secure your family's health care.

The battle to achieve racial justice and root out systemic racism in this country.

And the battle to save our planet by getting the climate under control.

Space to play or pause, M to mute, left and right arrows to seek, up and down arrows for volume.

The battle to restore decency, defend democracy, and give everybody in this country a fair shot — that's all they're asking for, a fair shot.

Folks, our work begins with getting COVID under control.

We cannot repair the economy, restore our vitality, or relish life's most precious moments — hugging our grandchildren, our children, our birthdays, weddings, graduations, all of the moments that matter most to us — until we get it under control.

On Monday, I will name a group of leading scientists and experts as transition advisers to help take the Biden-Harris COVID plan and convert it into an action blueprint that will start on January 20, 2021.

That plan will be built on bedrock science.

It will be constructed out of compassion, empathy and concern. I will spare no effort, none, or any commitment to turn around this pandemic.

Folks, I am a proud Democrat, but I will govern as an American president.

I will work as hard for those who didn't vote for me as those who did.

Let this grim era of demonisation in America begin to end here and now.

The refusal of Democrats and Republicans to co-operate with one another is not some mysterious force beyond our control — it is a decision, a choice we make, and if we can decide not to co-operate, then we can decide to co-operate.

And I believe that this is part of the mandate given to us from the American people.

They want us to co-operate in their interest and that's the choice I'll make and I'll call on Congress, Democrats and Republicans alike, to make that choice with me.

The American story is about slow yet steadily widening opportunities in America. And make no mistake, too many dreams have been deferred for too long.

We must make the promises of this country real for everybody, no matter their race, their ethnicity, their faith, their identity or their disability.

Folks, America has always been shaped by inflection points, by moments in time where we've made hard decisions about who we are and what we want to be.

Lincoln, in 1860, coming to save the union. FDR in 1932, promising a beleaguered country a new deal. JFK in 1960 pledging a new frontier and 12 years ago when Barack Obama made history he told us: "Yes we can!"

Well folks, we stand at an inflection point.

We have an opportunity to defeat despair, to build a nation of prosperity and purpose. We can do it, I know we can.

I've long talked about the battle for the soul of America. We must restore the soul of America.

Our nation is shaped by the constant battle between our better angels and our darkest impulses, and what presidents say in this battle matters.

It's time for our better angels to prevail.

Ms Harris was the first Black person to serve as attorney-general in California and also the second Black woman to be elected to the US Senate.(Reuters: Jim Bourg)

Tonight the whole world is watching America and I believe that, at our best, America is a beacon for the globe.

We will not leave, we will lead by the example not only of our power but by the power of our example.

I've always believed, many of you have heard me say it, I've always believed we could define America in one word: possibilities.

That in America, everybody should be given an opportunity to go as far as their dreams and God-given ability will take them.

You see, I believe in the possibilities of this country. We're always looking ahead.

Ahead to an America that is freer and more just. Ahead to an America that creates jobs with dignity and respect. Ahead to an America that cures diseases like cancer and Alzheimer's. Ahead to an America that never leaves anybody behind. Ahead to an America that never gives up, never gives in.

This is a great nation.

It has always been a bad bet to bet against America. We're good people.

This is the United States of America and there's never been anything, never been anything we have not been able to do when we have done it together.

Folks, in the last days of the campaign, I began thinking about a hymn that means a lot to me and my family, particularly to my deceased son, Beau.

It captures the faith that sustains me, which I believe sustains America. And I hope we can provide some comfort and solace to the 230,000 Americans who have lost a loved one to this terrible virus this year.

My heart goes out to each and every one of you. Hopefully this hymn gives you solace as well.

It goes like this: "And he will raise you up on Eagle's wings, bear you on the breath of dawn and make you shine like the sun and hold you in the palm of his hand."

And now together, on eagle's wings, we embark on the work that God has called upon us to do with full hearts and steady hands, with faith in America and each other, with love of country, a thirst for justice, let us be the nation that we know we can be.

A nation united, a nation strengthened, a nation healed.

The United States of America, and ladies and gentlemen, there is never, never been anything we've tried that we've not been able to do.

So remember, as my grandpoppy said as I walked out of his home when I was a kid up in Scranton, he said: "Joey, keep the faith."

And our grandmother when she was alive would yell: "No Joey, spread it. Spread the faith."

God love you all. May God bless America and may God protect our church.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

The Wrath of Amba Highly Awaits Fru Ndi In Bamend after UK, US Trips

SDF National chairman's Home Coming in the Heart of the Anglophone Crisis: "Time for Fru Ndi to face the Wrath of Amba?"

It is highly probable and likely possible that there is going to be a big confrontation between Amba boys and Fru Ndi's tugs in the event of his Coming to Bamenda to visit his Ntarikon residence now heavily guarded by the Military.

This observation holds solid grounds in the sense that, the very ghost town Fru Ndi in the early 90s innitiated plus the seed of rebellion he planted in youths kidnapped and chased him out of Bamenda late 2019 to UK and US where he has been receiving serious medical attention all this while.

Adding on to that the speed at which he has been "running his mouth" according to architects of "Black-Legs" while abroad has further strained and magnified his case before the said boys “he, or we use to call our boys”.

Danger is sensed from the public declarations, open threats they have been sending through social media.

A second attempt to burn down his Ntarikon residence rescued by the forces of law and order only goes a long way to confirm the fact that the “boys mean business”, I mean “our boys”.

Business in the sense that, since Fru Ndi has reverse his original stands and is standing on their way to victory or independence, they will do everything possible to crush him.

According to them from the day he took a "U" turn in the struggle he became an “enabler”.

Thanks to him, 2020 elections took place in this part of the country where the Boys have been doing all in their best to render ungovernable.

His negative declarations on the atrocities committed by the boys as an authoritative voice in the country has helped enormously to dissuade international interest and focus on the Anglophone case.

On the bases of these observation, tongue are still wagging and the population is waiting earnestly to see how Fru Ndi's entrance into Bamenda anytime from now will look like.

Whether it will be heroic as usual or he will be guarded by the defense forces to his residence and around.

As we report fear and gloom crowds the minds of SDF sympathizers, who for obvious security reasons regrettably organized a join ecumenical mass for the party's fallen heroes out of Bamenda. The 1$ question is has Fru Ndi transferred the seat of SDF, it's head quarters and his Ntarikon Presidency to Yaounde? “The monsters Fru Ndi created are now after him” end time signal, doom is at the corner, as the clock is also ticking….. payback time...

President Buhari, Speaks Out on the End SARS Palavar Distabilizing Nigeria

ADDRESS TO THE NATION BY HIS EXCELLENCY, MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA ON THE ENDSARS PROTESTS, 22ND OCTOBER, 2020

Fellow Nigerians,

It has become necessary for me to address you having heard from many concerned Nigerians and having concluded a meeting with all the Security Chiefs.

2. I must warn those who have hijacked and misdirected the initial, genuine and well - intended protest of some of our youths in parts of the country, against the excesses of some members of the now disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

3. On Monday 12th October, I acknowledged the genuine concerns and agitations of members of the public regarding the excessive use of force by some members of SARS.

4. The choice to demonstrate peacefully is a fundamental right of citizens as enshrined in Section 40 of our Constitution and other enactments; but this right to protest also imposes on the demonstrators the responsibility to respect the rights of other citizens, and the necessity to operate within the law.

5. As a democratic government, we listened to, and carefully evaluated the five-point demands of the protesters. And, having accepted them, we immediately scrapped SARS, and put measures in place to address the other demands of our youth.

6. On approving the termination of SARS, I already made it clear that it was in line with our commitment to the implementation of extensive Police reforms.

7. Sadly, the promptness with which we have acted seemed to have been misconstrued as a sign of weakness and twisted by some for their selfish unpatriotic interests.

8. The result of this is clear to all observers: human lives have been lost; acts of sexual violence have been reported; two major correctional facilities were attacked and convicts freed; public and private properties completely destroyed or vandalised; the sanctity of the Palace of a Peace Maker, the Oba of Lagos has been violated. So-called protesters have invaded an International Airport and in the process disrupted the travel plans of fellow Nigerians and our visitors.

9. All these executed in the name of the ENDSARS protests. I am indeed deeply pained that innocent lives have been lost. These tragedies are uncalled for and unnecessary. Certainly, there is no way whatsoever to connect these bad acts to legitimate expression of grievance of the youth of our country.

10. The spreading of deliberate falsehood and misinformation through the social media in particular, that this government is oblivious to the pains and plight of its citizens is a ploy to mislead the unwary within and outside Nigeria into unfair judgement and disruptive behaviour.

11. On the contrary, both our deeds and words have shown how committed this administration has been to the wellbeing and welfare of citizens, even with the steadily dwindling revenues, and the added responsibilities and restrictions due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

12. Government has put in place measures and initiatives principally targeted at youths, women and the most vulnerable groups in our society.  These included our broad plan to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years; the creation of N75 billion National Youth Investment Fund to provide opportunities for the youths and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Survival Fund, through which government is:

a. paying three months salaries of the staff of 100,000 micro, small - and medium - enterprises,

b. paying for the registration of 250,000 businesses at the Corporate Affairs Commission,

c. giving a grant of N30,000 to 100,000 artisans; and

d. guaranteeing market for the products of traders.

13. These are in addition to many other initiatives such as;

a. Farmermoni,

b. Tradermoni,

c. Marketmoni,

d. Marketmon

e. N-Tech and

f. N-Agro.

14. No Nigerian Government in the past has methodically and seriously approached poverty-alleviation like we have done.

15. With regard to the welfare of police personnel, the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission has been directed to expedite action on the finalization of the new salary structure of members of the Nigeria Police Force. The emoluments of other paramilitary services are also being reviewed upwards.

16. In order to underscore the importance of education in preparing youths for the future, this administration has come up with a new salary structure and other incentives for our teachers.

17. Let me at this point reaffirm the Federal Government’s commitment to preserving the unity of this country.

18. We will continue to improve good governance and our democratic process, including through sustained engagement.

19. We shall continue to ensure that liberty and freedom, as well as the fundamental rights of all citizens are protected.

20. But remember that government also has the obligation to protect lives and properties, as well as the right of citizens to go about their daily businesses freely and protected from acts of violence.

21. To our neighbours in particular, and members of the international community, many of whom have expressed concern about the ongoing development in Nigeria, we thank you and urge you all to seek to know all the facts available before taking a position or rushing to judgment and making hasty pronouncements.

22. In the circumstances, I would like to appeal to protesters to note and take advantage of the various well-thought-out initiatives of this administration designed to make their lives better and more meaningful, and resist the temptation of being used by some subversive elements to cause chaos with the aim of truncating our nascent democracy.

23. For you to do otherwise will amount to undermining national security and the law and order situation. Under no circumstances will this be tolerated.

24. I therefore call on our youths to discontinue the street protests and constructively engage government in finding solutions. Your voice has been heard loud and clear and we are responding.

25. And I call on all Nigerians to go about their normal businesses, and enjoin security agencies to protect lives and properties of all law abiding citizens without doing harm to those they are meant to protect. Let me pay tribute to officers of the Nigeria Police Force who have tragically lost their lives in the line of duty.

26. I would like to thank those state Governors, traditional and religious leaders who have appealed for calm and restraint. I also thank youth leaders who have restrained their followers from taking the law into their hands.

27. This government respects and will continue to respect all the democratic rights and civil liberties of the people, but it will not allow anybody or groups to disrupt the peace of our nation.

Thank you all. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Mad” Tax Drive on Phones this 15th to Spark another Wave of Problems in Cameroon

“Mad” Tax Drive on Phones this 15th to Spark another Wave of Problems in the Country

As the already over burdened population is crossed by the decision and are of the opinion that the regime has reached the apex of its manipulations and must be brought down.

Given that its Ministers are only introducing misleading decisions all in the name of generating income for the State which is in no distance time misappropriated and embezzled.

Hear the embattled population “We think it is time we join force with Kamto and rally behind all the problems plaguing this Nation Cameroon to kick out the regime in question and its dishonest Ministers. It is too much, day in day out, they keep introducing new ways of extorting money from the poor, helpless and hopeless population, worst of it all, we are not seeing what they are collecting the money and realizing with? It is too much”.

From such a reaction, from the frustrated population, the regime, can only sense another big danger looming and that is coming to add onto the Kamto Wahala that is shaking the nation, the Anglophone war of independence that has rendered North West and the South West Regions of the Country ungovernable, the ceaseless threats and continues attacks from the Boko Haram Islamic sect in the North which is posing as a major security problem, the BAS movement abroad and it's anti regime crusade, human right criticism and advocacies, ethnic clash, natural disaster, general poverty and misery etc.

The era we are living in Cameroon are daring and the times trying, that the least occasion will push the population to go on rampage. This may be the last spark and Cameroon may find herself wanting forever because of the callous decisions of some few gullible individuals in government.

To be honest, the “Mad” Cell Phone Tax Drive which went operational on 15th of this October 2020 is already radicalizing and pushing the Population to think of going on rampage.

Prof. Chi Asafor, Mayor Samki Elvise and Santa CAUCUS Mobilize Population to Effectively Start Schools;

#-Dolls Out School Gadgets, COVID-19 Kids Plus Benches Worth Over 50 Million frs CFA

#Launch a Robust Scholarship Scheme

The Santa CAUCUS from all indication is back, vibrant and vibrating, this observation is without doubt or better still can be seen in the mamoth crowd who answered present at the Santa Council premise to the abrupt call of it’s elite heeding to appeals for parents to send back their children to schools and embrace peace.

The historic outing by the Santa CAUCUS to bless and Spoil pupils and the student population of this council area, cum Mezam II constituency goes down the annals of history as one of those events that rekindles hope to an over burdened population by the Anglophone crisis that has crippled almost half of North West's economy.

The arranged come together by elite for the interest of the needy population a week after school resumption all over the country was yesterday 16 of October 2020.

The Elite of this Sub-Division, came out as one man in unity and peace to effectively campaign for Effective back to schools in their area of origin after sinking all the differences that have since characterized the Section.

God doing it the exact way, the population  responded alike and came out in their mass answering the calls of the true representative of the people in government.

It is without gain also saying from the pictures this Reporter saw at the ceremonial ground that things are picking up very fast and coming back to normal and the elite are gradually, if not, have totally regained the confidence of their people through this symbolic outing to canvas for effective School resumption while crusading for peace and tranquility in Santa.

This giant stride or gesture, falls in line with the Head of State's good will and generosity expressed through his Political actors in the field subjected to contribute in yielding wounds and making amends for the long period of stress and distress underwent by the population as a result of the crisis.

The happy population prayerfully and in thanks giving saluted the efforts of this Christian outing by the CAUCUS in which they saw love, care and compassion deeply enshrined.

What must be noted is that this symbolic gesture of the CAUCUS comes at a time when the population is deeply in need of both financial and material assistance to send back their  children to school after four years of educational stalemate in the Region.

At the occasion, the high profile Delegation led by Prof Chi Asafor Cornelius stated that their mission is full of good will for the innocent children who have suffered a lot in the hands of the crisis and will do all it takes for schools to go on effectively, while praying that peace should have it's place to enable them to start executing the much envisaged five years strategic development plan of action for the Council with the Mayor Samkie Elvis who doubles as the Paramount Fon of Baligham.

Hear the Sectary General of the National Commission for Bilingualism and Multiculturalism Prof Chi Asafor “we mean business with our population, and have each taken the firm commitment and responsibility to assist and why not shoulder all the burden of our impoverished population as a result of the Crisis for their children to regain classes and schools. We owe them a duty to contribute in their sound moral and educational upbringing as we canvas for peace to enhance the development of the area. We are not only ending at the benches, books, buckets, or school didactic materials, but we are also launching a robust scholarship scheme that will take care of the absolute needs for schools to effectively resume all over Santa Sub-Division. The massive turn out to our call has a positive connotation and indicates that we are on the right track”.

Mayor Samkie on his part the host, thanked his elite for the timely intervention to answer to the school needs of the population, while praying that combine efforts and action should be the watch words of the CAUCUS.

The population in response "celebrated and venerated the multiple humanitarian actions of the CAUCUS geared towards development oriented policies, the social welfare of the people and the reestablishment of peace in the Municipality and the Region at large.
