A cream
of comprehensive, styled Good Will teachers early yesterday, came out with a
press release reacting to what has made news for the last three weeks over the suspension
of teachers salaries working in Ngoketunjia Division.
They,
for obvious reasons, stated in the Press release that they are aware of the security
challenges not only in the Division but in the two English speaking Regions of
Cameroon that has caused many a teacher not to effectively be at work for the past
four years. Owing to that and after several calls by government, many who did not
attempt to show up salaries were suspended. Others involved in the Champaign against school
effective resumption were arrested. With time, government (that is the honorable
Minister of Secondary Education) with the powers that be on the ground, has systematically
reinstated the salaries of those who have assumed duty.
That
is exactly what most of the teachers from that part of the Region expressed in the face
saving press release dissociating themselves from rumor mongers who have since taken
the issue of salary cuts as a personal axe to grind with the SDO of Ngoketunjia
Quetong Anderson scandalizing his name all over the whole place and have even resorted
to witch hunting.
To their
attention (ies blackmailers and backstabbers), the teachers in their respective
working Groups and in a calm approach are gradually redressing the situation with
the SDO and the Ministries concerned and would not want intruders.
Shaming
spoilers, the teachers in the one page document, saw where they went wrong and have
come back in whole submission before the SDO who has for this short while systematically
caused the reinstatement of most of their salaries.
To say
they, teachers have an axe to grind with the SDO is a fat lie and humbly appeal
to mischievous and wayward individuals to leave teachers affairs to them and not
rub it with crisis, politics and score settling.
Saying,
they throw all their weight behind the SDO, whose fatherly approaches to issues
concerning administration and governance during this crisis has eased things a
lot for them.
Note
should be taken that even with back sliders and coup plotters against effective
school resumption, the SDO has always remained friendly and open to his teachers.
Which
should be the reason why at every given moment he is vindicated when problems arise
and his enemies want to take advantage of.
As a
seasoned Administrator, Quetong Anderson, knows what it takes to govern with a human
heart and administering with a human face keeping aside gossips, blackmail and the
blame game.
If today there is a certain degree of calm in Ngoketunjia, it is because the man in Command has learned to give a listening ear to all the worries of his people and is quick to forgive.
