It is unfortunate but that is exactly
the truth on the ground. Most agents of international Humanitarian services or agencies
presently in the crisis hit Regions of Anglophone Cameroon are more a threat to
the social welfare of the impoverished masses than a solution to the Internally
displaced.
Why is this Reporter saying so?, It is
because time with out number there have been series of complains from the
affected masses that all what is allocated for them as relief materials or packages
hardly reach them complete. Because the sharing
exercise is not methodic and full of instituted lapses to cheat. It is common placed
to see three quarter of those benefitting in the lists not affected or are family
members, even civil servants.
The whole exercise is shrouded with lapses
and transformed into family ventures or business, such that, when there is allocation
of relief materials for distribution, the agents already know what they will reap
out as personal profits and how much quantity they will deviate to their individual
stores or warehouses.
It is a normal routine to hear that
tones of rice, galloons of oil and money for (IDPs) internally displaced persons
vanish in tin air.
Worst of it all, non of the humanitarian
services in the likes of big bodies peruse the fiercest ground of the crisis to
distribute humanitarian grants but for those who have alliances with separatists
forces ( like doctors without borders, who were send packing by the Cameroon government
when they discovered the role they were playing in facilitating the crisis, through
medical health care services and other clandestine deals). Most of them hang
around secured administrative head Quarters and write funny reports and
recommendations based on assumption.
Authoritatively we of the press in
these affected Regions are embarrassed by some of the reports circulated by
individuals who earn much from these crisis humanitarian bodies and other services
who seat in bars at up station Bamenda and write fictitious reports about what is
or is not happening in the suburbs. How do you explain that most of their agents
who find it difficult to go to mile 8 Mankon, Mbengwi road, Bali and even Nkwen
which are just before their nostrils, will
claim to have gone to Bafut, Wum, Ndu, Ndop, Bambalang, Sabga, Belo, Fingue etc.
There is nothing going on like
assisting crisis victims in Anglophone Cameroon but a money sharing exercise
amongst individuals who are carefully selected to syphon humanitarian funds, steal,
and misappropriate.
Until the cartel of these wolves In
humanitarian clothing are dismantled, crisis victims will continue to live in
misery as the war deepens and vicious individuals keep inflating their accounts
and loading their warehouses.
All the reports about the difficulties
in accessing those areas are fictive, fake and false.
Come to investigate the villas belt
this short while by authorities heading these humanitarian bodies in Cameroon.
Not to talk of the private warehouses and stores owned by them.
The scandals surrounding supplies and
distribution of the humanitarian packages are too much, not to talk of
corruption.
Information on solid grounds from the
heavily affected masses are there and the public is quite over vexed.
Humanitarian assistance ventures in
Cameroon has suddenly and steadily become a chain business, between the agents, the contracted authorities,
the suppliers, the beneficiaries and the corrupt system in place.
