North West Regional Assembly Proposes 5.62 Billion Budget for 2025

The North West Regional Assembly (NWRA) has proposed a draft budget of FCFA 5.62 billion for 2025, focusing on ambitious investment projects in health, education, and economic development. This move aims to address the region's socio-economic challenges and promote social cohesion. However, the masses have expressed doubts about the institution's credibility in addressing the ongoing sociopolitical crisis that has severely impacted Bamenda and other areas.

The execution of projects within the 7 regions has been questionable, as most divisional representatives have hardly visited their respective areas due to the ongoing Anglophone Crisis. This has led to concerns about the effective allocation of resources and the implementation of projects. Despite these challenges, the North West Regional Assembly (NWRA) has made efforts to promote development in the region, including the construction of emergency centers, rehabilitation of district hospitals, and equipping schools with science laboratories.

The NWRA's budget for 2025 includes allocations for various initiatives, such as completion of emergency centers, rehabilitation of district hospitals, and equipping hospitals with radiology equipment. It also focuses on equipping science laboratories and workshops in technical schools. Additionally, the Peace and Development Initiative (PDI) will implement community projects focused on planting trees, maintaining infrastructure, and promoting social cohesion.

While the NWRA's efforts are commendable, it is essential to address the concerns of the masses and ensure that the institution is transparent and accountable in its actions. By doing so, the NWRA can regain the trust of the people and effectively address the socio-economic challenges facing the region
