The Category A1 Micro finance institution with appellation ALAMATU
Cooperative credit union (ALAMCUL) affiliated to RECCU-CAM in the heart of
economic hardship and stagnation in Anglophone Cameroon has on the 1st
day of April 2018 in Mankon at its head office decided to open its doors and be
of service to the population around mile 7 in particular and Cameroonians in
general.
The ceremony which brought together businessmen and women of different
class at the mile seven Catholic Church esplanade to witness the grand
launching of this maiden, baby vibrant credit union officiated by the DO of Bamenda
II represented by his first assistant Mr Yenika Daniel is the initiative of some Makon industrious
businessmen and elite headed by Ade Roland who doubles as the acting board
chairman. Who though mile 7 quarter needed a proximity micro finance house
looking at the speed at which she was growing and the increasing number of
business places not to talk of industrious economic activities going on.
The need to boast development and work towards the quarter’s emergence
through regular savings and borrowing wisely forms part of the major backbone
for the union’s creation. Creating jobs and employment at the same time securing
and protecting indigenes resources will be one of the major fall out of the
venture” according to mayor Bamenda II Balick Awah Fidelis speaking at the
occasion during his welcome address commending the initiative while encouraging
the population to open accounts and let the union grow.
Mr Fon Amos seating in for RECCU-CAM the umbrella body to check and
control the smooth functioning of the union cautioned management to beware of
dishonest members and go in for quality customers and not quantity. Their
services should be rigorous, the union should function for the interests and
benefit of all its members, jointly managed and controlled by owners of the
institution.
The DO’s representative Mr Yenika Daniel, launching the credit union on
his part encouraged the brains behind such a laudable initiative and enjoined
them to be each another’s keeper while
appealing on the population to make use of the union to also grow by
saying regularly, borrowing wisely and paying promptly.
The ceremony which began with week long activities as part of
commemoration to the launching exercise, saw the finals of the launching trophy
and raffle draws which ditched out hundreds of prizes to the public ranging
from spades, cutlasses, to Flat screen Televisions, fridges, Phones and a motor
bike.
