MINESUP Boss Defines Definitely Status, Lists of Higher Institutions in Cameroon and their Location

In UBa the honorable Minister Prof. Fame Ndongo has clearly outlined Specified professional schools and Faculties in both Bambili and Bambui villages by naming and situating their campuses in the edition 2022 University catalog.

The technical adjustment by the Minister of Higher Education (MINESUP) and team or cream of Professors, throws light of clarity on the controversy surrounding campuses and host villages of the University of Bamenda in Tubah Sub-Division.

With the recent official release by the Ministry in question, it is now official and crystal clear that Bambui village will harbor four professional schools of UBa to name HICM, HTTTC (ENSET), NAHPI, HITL , etc and Bambili will henceforth carry three other Professional schools, in the likes of the Faculty of Health science, that of Technology and HTTC away from the usual mix up fashioned by people or elites who like to set confusion and foment lies.

Anybody who understands the crooks of this matter knows from where we are coming from and how the said 2022 edition of the University catalog defining the status of state Universities, their campuses and specific sites and locations will put an end most precisely to the tug of war , call it or better still cold war or underground battle between Bambui and Bambili on who is hosting which part of UBa's professional schools.

With the naming, all speculations and conjectures will definitely be put to rest.

On an additional count, this Reporter must emphasize, that the news last week fell like a time bomb and has taken so many a people aback who hit Toto took delight in hitting people’s head on mere issues of ideological difference. Laying funny claims left and right with unfounded justifications. Today we have a working document which explains and says it all.

 

Tubah DO Concert with Stake Holders to Ensure 2022/2023 Effective Back to School

That was on Wednesday the 17^th of August 2022 in his conference hall where he gathered the Fons of the four villages that make up Tubah Sub-Division, all principals and service Heads all comprised for stock taking.

The over two hours meeting centered on a four point agenda; back to schools in Tubah, how prepared are the school heads and officials, security challenges and the way forward.

Opening the meeting the DO Narcisse Metuge saluted the massive presence of officials and encouraged all to brave all odds for schools to go operational in villages still lacking behind like Kedjom Keku and Ketingoh.

Hear him “everything must be done humanly possible for schools to effectively start in Tubah and that he will not have it easy with teachers who will stay off for security reasons this year, given that things are gradually coming back to normal” while stressing that if you are eating government money, you must be ready to sacrifice or resign rather than Play the hide and seek game.

The officials present in their different rounds and turns to talk in the hall picked on the security challenges raging on and the poor infrastructures, all abandoned in the bush, some confiscated and serving today as hide out for separatists forces.

Which the two Fons (Angafor III and Afungnchwi II of Bambui and Bambili) all present, acknowledge to be the sad reality on the ground and promised to do everything humanly possible to convince parents to send their children to school while struggling to dissuade the “boys” from attacking schools.

Speaking to the press, DO Narcisse sounding rather very optimistic about back to schools this year because of some degree of normalcy in his  jurisdiction, appealed to the education family and instructed them to clean the schools, open their doors and start registering students to kick start the school year. While Warning them, that there will be “No Laissez faire this year” and no rooms for excuses or complains.

World Bank Safety Net Project, WORLD ECHOES MEDIA GROUP, Subsidize Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWD) in the North West Region

That was under the poverty alleviation scheme over ten years running in Cameroon.

These Persons Living with Disabilities in the North West Region on the 9^th of August 2022 at the Bamenda I Council hall bagged home to the tune of 10 million francs CFA, each taking home a package not less than 180,000 FRS.

The 24 beneficiaries plus some 175 needy persons in Bamenda I, II, III Council area made up the additional mob that received  financial package from the joint venture initiative to better their lives.

These 24 persons living with Disabilities, we must lay precision were zeroed into the world bank safety net project thanks to the initiative of the Regional coordinator Kanjo Elvis from the high instructions of the country coordinator.

They happened to be laureates and winners of World ECHOES MEDIA GROUP 2021 CADMA AWARD (Cameroon Ability in Disability Media Award) for outstanding ventures or initiatives in their different works of live supervised by the Coordinating unit of associations for persons living with Disabilities CUAPLW.

As additional package to what they took home on that blessed they, World bank safety net project promised to subsidize each of them which is what called for the pay out ceremony that ensued at the Bamenda I Council hall on Tuesday the 9^th of August 2022.

Thankful to the world bank project and program selfless and collective in it’s mission, the Mayors of Bamenda, I, II, III, saluted the project, it’s officials and cautioned recipients or beneficiaries to make good use of the financial package.

The Regional coordinator of safety net Kanjo Elvis on his part aired assurance of the poverty alleviation scheme, calling on all beneficiaries to put the money into good use to help better their lives. He also seized the opportunity to thank his boss the country coordinator for opting to add persons living with Disabilities in the program.

The coordinator of the Units of Associations for persons living with Disabilities Chick Sama on his part appreciated and celebrated the World Bank Safety net project for honoring their appointment and for keeping the redezvous, above all for making the project to be disability inclusive.

Coming back to the brain (WORLD ECHOES MEDIA GROUP) behind the world bank safety net joint humanitarian venture to alleviate poverty, it’s CEO Tamukong Roland Angong, talking to the press, praised the chain network of global actors committed to impacting, empowering and alleviating poverty. Time has come under the ladder of mankind with all the trillion problems this planetary village is facing for the press not only in Cameroon but the world to take adequate dispositions to school and educate it’s population on the increasing needs for mobilized efforts or actions to combat climate change.

Going beyond news room reporting, WEJACC will go beyond to tree planting, the promotion of tree planting, waste recycling and proper management, nature protection and the recognition of actors in the field through cash prize Award.

That is why in this maiden Edition, we have started by projecting and recognizing Tubah council who have since set the pace through their selfless services to nature and have contributed enormously to combat climate change through waste management and recycling, above all excessive tree planting.

Cameroon Gov't Takes Stock, Three Years after the Grand National Dialogue. PM, Officials Express Satisfaction at the End

Members of the follow-up committee of the implementation of the resolutions of the Major National Dialogue have saluted the gradual return to peace in the North West and South West Regions.

Meeting at the star building, August 4, 2022, to take stalk of the progress made as far as the implementation of the recommendations of the Dialogue are concerned, 3 years after the major National Dialogue, the members all testified that despite all the odds, peace, love and harmony is returning to these regions hit by the crisis for close to six years today.

Chairing the follow-up committee meeting, the Prime minister and head of Government Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute in his address buttressed the various areas in that progress has been made since the holding of the Major national dialogue, highlighting that there are still some pockets of resistance posed by the separatist fighters

On the reopening of schools, Prime minister Dion Ngute, with so much joy in his heart made evidenced by his facial expression announced with great delight that, after the drastic fall in the number of children going to school in these regions at the start of the crisis, which at a certain point went down to 20,000 in 2017 for the South West region but that number today has tripled as the South West Region counts over 91000 children going to school while the North West alone counts 71000 according to statistics of the last academic year and it seems the situation is improving as the years unfold.

The restart of agricultural activities in the regions is gradually improving as fresh-looking vegetables are in the markets of the urban centers of Cameroon from the North West Region.

The Prime minister mentioned they have been a significant revamping of agricultural activities in these regions as more and more people are returning to continue their farming activities that were interrupted due to the crisis. He also highlighted that even the CDC whose activities were grounded at the start of the crisis has picked up steam and has begun exporting its products to Europe and the Americas. To the delight of many, it has greatly improved the living condition of the population of these regions.

Messages of peace and love from former extremists

At the start of the crisis in 2016 hate speech was the order of the day, as brothers and sisters of the same country could not look into the eyes of each other and talk peace but today thanks to the creation of the national commission for the promotion of bilingualism and multiculturalism, whose members have been doing a commendable job by preaching against hate speech. There has been a remarkable transformation as the population now upholds virtues of peace, love, reconciliation, and progress. The population is gradually turning its backs against separatists and enemies of peace.

Decentralization and the special status of the North West and South West

One of the strong recommendations of the major national dialogue was the granting of special status to the North West and South West Regions. Their linguistic, legal, socio-cultural, and educational specificity tabled a need for them to be treated differently from the other 8 regions. The public independent conciliators of these 2 regions have been appointed and are currently carrying out their duties. The house of chiefs which is a particular identity to the people of the North West and South West was put in place during the regional council elections. All these measures were taken to answer the grievances raised by the population of these regions and accommodate them in a country that is one and indivisible.

Despite the great strides, there is still a lot to do

It is true without much doubt the situation in the North West and South West has greatly improved. Schools have reopened, many separatist fighters have dropped their guns, the regions are currently under reconstruction, and love and harmony seem to be flowing down the streams of these regions but there is much that is still to be done. Separatist fighters are still in control of some parts of these regions, arms are still been trafficked, bombings and killings even in the church everywhere seems to be dark, and everywhere seems to still be In slumber. The members of the committee quite aware of these happenings brained stormed on the possible way out with hope, that there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel. They called on the population to be more collaborative with the government so that in the end we will laugh when all will be said and done.

Reactions of other members at the end of the meeting

The 4th session of the follow-up committee of the major national dialogue brought together people of timber and caliber. It was unique this year, as it saw the presence of some members of the diaspora.

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting Mr. Paddy a very active member of the Cameroonian diaspora on the crisis said "I am very happy that I was invited to this meeting. At least there was a platform for me to air my mind. I told the members during the meeting that let those in the diaspora that has been accused of so many crimes be granted amnesty so that they can freely return to the country and give their own opinion on a possible way out of this crisis. My prayer is that they should be heard and let's all talk as brothers and sisters".

On the question of the special status, Mr. Paddy remarked that "the content of the special status should be clearly defined. I don’t believe in the form but I am interested in the details. I hope this will be looked into’’ he added.

A lot has been done to bring back peace in the 2 English-speaking parts of the country. Maybe what is left now is the sincerity to completely implement the resolutions taken during the dialogue.

At the end of 2022 International AIDS Conference, Sharon Lewin Assumes IAS Presidency

IAS – the International AIDS Society – welcomed Sharon Lewin (Australia) as the next IAS President and Beatriz Grinsztejn (Brazil) as President-Elect today. IAS leadership also expressed deep gratitude to Adeeba Kamarulzaman (Malaysia) who steps down as IAS President and assumes her role as immediate-past President.

Lewin, a world-renowned infectious diseases physician and basic scientist, is also the inaugural Director of the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, a joint venture of the University of Melbourne and Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. For more on Sharon’s extraordinary work and accomplishments.

Addressing delegates at the closing ceremony of AIDS 2022, the 24th International AIDS Conference, Lewin outlined her vision and explained why she remains an optimist about the strength of the global HIV response.

"AIDS 2022 has made it clear once again: progress happens when we come together and unleash the power of our movement. That is why the IAS exists. That is why we need to double down on our efforts to unite the voices of activists, policy makers and scientists," Lewin said.

"At AIDS 2022, we called on the world to re-engage and follow the science, and I can think of no better leader than Sharon to champion this cause and assume the leadership of the IAS," Kamarulzaman said of her successor. "These past two years, as another pandemic overtook the planet, Sharon’s pioneering HIV cure research and analysis have become even more important, providing a roadmap for the global response to COVID-19."

Similarly, Lewin expressed her admiration for Kamarulzaman and her leadership of the IAS over the past two years. 

"Adeeba has spent decades challenging stigma, dismissing taboos and shattering glass ceilings," Lewin said. "She brought this tenacity to her two-year term, leading the IAS through the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and a historic era, including our first-ever hybrid conference. As a woman in science, I look forward to the day when two consecutive female presidents isn’t remarkable – but today it is and I’m proud to be a part of this new era."

As Lewin assumes her new role as IAS President, Beatriz Grinsztejn assumes her role of President-Elect. Grinsztejn, an infectious diseases physician, is the Director of the STD/AIDS Clinical Research Laboratory and principal investigator of the FIOCRUZ HIV Prevention and Therapeutic Clinical Trials Unit in Rio de Janeiro.

The IAS also announced newly elected members of its Governing Council, which determines strategy and policy direction for IAS to ensure that the organization fulfils its mission.
