En 2013, il est nommé au poste de commandant en second des Forces armées tchadiennes en intervention au Mali (Fatim), dans le nord du Mali, sous les ordres du général Oumar Bikomo, mais en serait le chef officieux1.

Ntumfor Nico Halle Picks another Heavy Crown of Honour

 

This time from the Nigerian community in appreciation of his kind gestures  toward them.

The moral and spiritual support given to the then 2019 Nigeria-Cameroon trade tourism and cultural week (NCTC) by Barrister Ntumfor Nico Halle plus his multidimensional commitment and interaction with Nigerians and Nigeria, spurred the Nigerian Diplomatic and Consular Mission in Cameroon to honor and recognize his selfless services.

Ntumfor known  today as that Barrister in Cameroon who “bears the heart of gold” is a seasoned compassionate legal practitioner, an international consultant who for years have championed the crusade for peace in all it’s form in the country through his  people centered oriented actions for development that oversees justice in all it’s form.

Ntumfor Nico, common placed, has done quite a lot for  Cameroon and these  for all this while has attracted all forms of awards to his very humble person from the Press, the Fons, national and international human rights organization and even the state. 

The fact that Ntumfor has brokered in several national and international peace deals in Cameroon makes him a celebrity. His records in church that is the PCC in Cameroon and the Men's fellowship, speak for itself.

At large, the Model Lawyer who happens to be a commission member of the National commission for bilingualism and multiculturalism in Cameroon is a true and a loyal son of the soil who has contributed his own quota for the advancement of his own fatherland.

May God kindly and Graciously continue to guide his actions and strengthen his efforts towards peace building and national unity.

The North West education family has been hit by yet another shocking death barely a month after they buried the two teachers who died in the ghastly Dschang Melong road Motor accident all from Baba I.

Hard to bear, Ma's Death as she was usually called, also torch the “Mafor's” of the Region and the CPDM family given that she has been very instrumental, active and holding several post in the party before dying.

Coming to education she has been a class room teacher for years before her appointment as Principal. She happens to be one of those famous Principals who has  headed  GBHS Bamenda and today dies as a cadre at the Regional Delegation of Secondary education Bamenda. May her gentle soul rest in peace as she leave behind a huge family to mourn her sudden departure. Program for burial is still to be communicated.

Setting the Pace for Nation Wide Vaccination against COVID-19 in Nigeria , Her President and Vice Takes Vaccine

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammadou Bihari, and his Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo have each just taken Covid Vaccine from consignment  of vaccines which arrived the country a  week ago. Cameroon to Receive Own Consignment of COVID 19 Vaccines this Week

Cameroon, one of the countries in Africa worst hit by the coronavirus pandemic, is set to receive "very shortly" more than one million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute said on Friday.

Pointing to "a deterioration in the epidemiological situation" in the country, Dion Ngute told state radio that "more than one million vaccine doses will be available very shortly".

He did not specify which vaccines they were.

Dion Ngute called on the population to get inoculated but said the vaccination programme would be on a voluntary basis.

"In the space of one week, more than 3,000 new cases have been recorded, bringing the total number of people who have tested positive to COVID-19 to 38,988," he said.

Cameroon, with a population of 26 million, has registered 588 deaths from coronavirus so far.

The prime minister criticized the population's “laxness" in applying anti-COVID measures, pointing out that face masks were obligatory in public places and gatherings of more than 50 people were banned.

Cameroon's land, sea and air borders would also remain closed, Dion Ngute added.

Over the last couple of days, a position statement signed by several colleagues of the National Assembly including my humble person has been the main topic of discussion on several platforms and news outlets. This document has been subject to various interpretations, generating a lot of controversy on what its noble intentions were. Given the unprecedented challenges the country faces, we are all called to take our responsibilities and we must boldly take it up when and where necessary. Cynics, in deliberately misunderstanding and misrepresenting the intentions of this document, have also seized the opportunity to peddle innuendos of my collusion with the regime in its poor management of the Anglophone crisis and from seeking to benefit from it. It is this toxic politics, to which we have subjected every aspect of our national life which is at the very heart of the protraction of some of the crisis we face today. For the last 4-5 years, political apprentices have used sentimental judgements as a tool to stoke the sympathy of desolate Cameroonians, who have suffered and continue to suffer from various trials but never truly suggest any actual solution to the problems our fellow compatriots face. We will never succeed in building the Cameroon we believe in  through such cynicism and in trivialising every debate in the country. We are faced with several hard choices and we must face up to the truth and make those tough decisions. As famously quoted by Martin Luther King, Jr "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. The true neighbour will risk his position, his prestige, and even his life for the welfare of others. "

That said, the position by some members of the Cameroon National Assembly was published on February 22, 2021, in response to a petition from the United States Congress sent on February 17, 2021 by some 40 members of the United States Congress to the Biden administration. This petition was asking the administration to suspend the repatriation of Cameroonians from the United States to Cameroon because conditions in Cameroon continue to worsen as violence continues and the pandemic continues to take its public health and economic toll ... . In matters of parliamentary diplomacy, the position of a parliament is usually entertained by the opposing parliament concerned, providing a response to the  position in question except in cases of escalation. It was therefore within our remit, as representatives of the people, to provide a weighted response and seek further methods through which to best engage with these concerned members of the American Congress.

In response therefore, a position was taken on behalf of the Cameroonian Parliament and which can be summarized in its conclusion by the following words, "As legislators, we welcome the genuine expression of concern and support for the well-being of the vast majority of Cameroonians. We urge members of the United States Congress to engage more vigorously to ensure compliance with the international conventions against transnational crime and criminality to which the United States is a signatory and to ensure that their country is not a safe haven for perpetrators and funders of acts of extreme violence and terrorism on the people of Cameroon".

This response, for those who have taken the time to read it, is both diplomatically correct and courteous. As an unusual first, this document provided a medium of exchange from the Cameroon Parliament with foreign counterparts on a topic that has been the major concern for every Cameroonian, an opportunity I personally welcomed. The document in itself evoked several aspects, which make it foolhardy to read it in a singular context. It is necessary to unpack both statements and answer some questions, while pondering the proposal of "...suspending repatriation flights back to Cameroon..." for the various reasons provided, which include but are not limited to the war in the English-speaking regions. These questions are:

  Firstly, does this de-escalate the ongoing crisis in the country? The answer is a resounding NO!

  Should we be encouraging and celebrating more and more Cameroonians who are forced away from the responsibility of building this nation, the comfort of their homes in the hope of seeking asylum in the United States of America? Again, the resounding answer is NO! 

Does America provide safe harbour and anchor for the financiers, propagandists and sponsors of the war? Resounding YES!

Have those who have been repatriated so far been subject to any severe treatment besides the psychological, physical and economic cost of their journey, which would have been all but avoided had we the right government in place? Once again, a resounding NO!

  Do I feel for such Cameroonians who have been through such unbearable conditions, forced away from home in search of better? Absolutely YES.

  Do I feel there is another way we can solicit the support of the Biden Administration to ending the crisis and ensuring that Cameroonians feel welcomed and safe in their very homes? Absolutely YES.

Those are some key questions every patriotic Cameroonian must be asking and to which we must provide true answers. My political goal is not to look for the best means by which to portray the weaknesses of the country, but rather to the best way to resolve its imminent challenges. That is the responsibility I have as a representative of the people and a duty I must uphold. I am therefore baffled by the various negative reactions that I have received from this petition. Not that I am surprised by them, but rather by some of the authors of the criticism levied against me. Some have questioned the audacity to question or seem unyielding to a document regarding the state of affairs in Cameroon from the United States. Some have questioned why I appended my signature to a 'CPDM initiated document' as a member of the opposition and finally some political parasites once again are hoping to gain relevance in the face of the buzz this newsworthy action is making. 

When we consider the questions above, our actual challenge becomes evident. We can see how a genuine problem became hostage to the fantasies of some virtual leaders and gun wielding miscreants. From the onset, the Anglophone problem, which enjoyed the full support of every meaningful Cameroonian and to which we formulated the problem question adequately and had a clear roadmap for its resolution, was side-tracked by a group. They hijacked the "struggle" by peddling the idea of an independent country. Driven by frustrations and misgivings with the system and the vices we have condemned over such a long period, the idea of an independent country where they could reset and restart afresh was very appealing to several young men and women. They greeted this false believe with so much enthusiasm after giving up all hope and trust in the system. We must not forget the effect of this narrative on the escalation of this crisis. From the moment they embarked on this method, any other position or any other leader was dealt all sorts of derogatory terms. Several well-meaning Cameroonians were forced out of this debate because of its toxicity.

For those who rightly evoke the absence since the start of this terrible war in the North-West and South-West of a real debate on the issue in the Cameroonian parliament, I would like to begin to reassure them that I am offended as much as they are by this inexplicable incongruity maintained by the CPDM majority. In their short-sightedness, they never imagined the impact the SDF debate on the crisis would have brought about. We petitioned and revolted on the floor of parliament and today they see the need to take action. By this therefore, we would call for more discussions on the floor of parliament on the crisis.

The SDF to which I belong is for a strong Cameroon, united in its diversity through a federal system set up with a broad consensus and which gives pride of place to local development and the enhancement of the specificities of its components in a participatory and inclusive democracy. We are for a true inclusive dialogue to resolve the crisis in the North West and South West. Our social democratic and progressive values are for peace all over the country and we carry values which dictate to us that there can be no real and lasting peace without justice and this justice knows no borders. The SDF has given its all to try to bring peace to the North West and South West regions for the past five years in a deadly conflict in which we are not a party but for which we are paying an immeasurable price. This, however, will not deter us from sticking to our democratic fundamentals enshrined in our internal constitution.

Party members should therefore not be drawn into this sentimental expressions and futile debates fanned by political lackeys. To do politics is to have political ideas, a political program, a clear vision of the economic and social mix that you want for your country. Political life is the confrontation of these ideas and these programs. Let's talk and debate about ideas. Let us be focused and reflect together on the fundamental problems of our society and propose to the electorate a program based on socio-democratic and progressive values to solve them. This is what the SDF should be for the days and weeks to come. This is my vision. Conserving old positions divides, adopting change unites. I live my political struggle as a divine blessing. Being misunderstood, stigmatized, or just fought is an inseparable part of this fight. I am for the unity of all the political forces of the left, of all the progressives. I am for a strong and united SDF. Only the struggle liberates and together we win.

Prof. Maurice Kamto Wades in, Challenging Cameroon MPs

STATEMENT

On the betrayal of the People by Cameroonian MPs complicit in the war in the North-West and South-West Regions

On 17 February 2021, forty members of the US Congress wrote to the President of the United States of America and his Secretary of Homeland Security, requesting the implementation of measures to prevent the repatriation to Cameroon of some of our compatriots who are currently in an irregular situation on American soil. The measures requested from the U.S. administration would be activated under the Temporary Protected Status or the Deferred Enforced Departure, two instruments developed to ensure the protection of foreign nationals living in the United States "from civil, political and humanitarian crises in their home country that make it unsafe for them to return" or "if conditions in the[ir] country make return unsafe".  In support of their initiative, the American parliamentarians illustrate the situation in Cameroon as follows: “[a] humanitarian crisis and civil war characterized by massive internal displacement, war crimes, and shortages of essentials like water, food, healthcare, and housing […]”; civilians caught in the middle of multiple and complex armed conflicts between English-speaking separatists, the government and Boko Haram; “an extensive and troubling catalogue of human rights abuses against Cameroonian civilians, including extrajudicial killings, torture, arbitrary detention, and targeted violence against vulnerable populations such as children and members of the LGBTQ+ community.” 

In a correspondence dated 22 February 2021, some members of the National Assembly of Cameroon felt they had to speak out against the granting to our compatriots by the United States Government of the protection measures envisaged, on the grounds that the "extremely negative description of Cameroon" made by some "misguided" American parliamentarians could be false and distorted. In the opinion of the MPs in question, the Cameroon referred to by the members of the US Congress "does not exist ... [but] is a figment of the misinformed views of certain individuals who are determined to cause further destabilization in the whole Central African Region". 

The Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) finds regrettable and irresponsible the views expressed by the group of Cameroonian parliamentarians concerned whose approach gives the measure of the state of collapse of the foundation of values on which our young nation wanted to build itself. Indeed, what can we say about "representatives of the people" who, not satisfied with doing nothing to stop the continuous deterioration of the standard of living of the population and doing everything possible to kill all hope for the youth, notably by throwing the latter into exile, are pushing their cynicism to the limit by demanding the repatriation to Cameroon of some of our compatriots, and consequently that they be denied humanitarian protection. 

The CRM notes that a concerted approach of this nature has never been initiated by the Cameroonian MPs in question, to demand a parliamentary debate on the fratricidal war that is destroying the North-West and South-West Regions and endangering the destiny of our country as a united Nation. We did not see such "solidarity" around their colleague, the Honourable Joseph Wirba, when he courageously spoke out on the Anglophone question at the tribune of the National Assembly a few years ago. For the Cameroonian parliamentarians concerned, the civil war in the North-West and South-West Regions does not exist, unless in the opinions of these MPs, these regions are no longer part of Cameroon. The hundreds of thousands of internally displaced persons, victims of this fratricidal war would just be the imagination of distraught individuals. One can now understand why the issue of this absurd war in the North-West and South-West Regions has never been debated either in the National Assembly or in the Senate. The unbearable episodes of this dirty war, including Ngarbuh, Menka-Pinyin, Muyuka, Kumba, Mautu and others, do not seem to change the prevailing autism and blindness: even the "representatives of the People" do not see the People suffering.

We also better understand the complicit silence of parliamentarians of the CPDM regime and its allies in the face of arbitrary arrests and detentions, submission to acts of torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, to which CRM militants have been subjected for several years, for having demonstrated peacefully (on 26 January, 1 and 8 June 2019 and 22 September 2020) to demand an end to the war in the North-West and South-West Regions. In doing so, the group of concerned Cameroonian parliamentarians provides a further illustration of its indifference to the suffering of Cameroonians. In any case, it confirms their complicity in the serious violations of fundamental human rights and their support for acts of barbarism carried out by the state apparatus, all institutions combined, as reported in the first CRM Report on Human Rights and Governance, which covers the year 2020. 

  Our "People's Representatives" obviously live in another country, when they are bold enough to claim that "Cameroon readily issues travel documents and passports to its citizens."! Yes, when they are not deprived of passports, many of our compatriots, especially from the diaspora, for whom returning to Cameroon has become dangerous for many years, as they are on file by the Cameroonian authorities because of their political opinions, or their alleged political views.

The CRM's mission is to restore the rule of law and to ensure that Cameroon adopts and respects a true national charter of human rights and democracy. It promotes and defends the fundamental rights of all Cameroonians wherever they are. The CRM welcomes all initiatives that go in this direction, including from countries and institutions that take the measure of the suffering and distress of the Cameroonian people and come to their aid.  Our people will know how to recognise their friends.

Fru Ndi Dumps SDF and Anglophones at Much Needed Moment

What an unfortunate situation every right thinking political analyst will want to bear for the SDF Chieftain and his one time Vibrant Political Party.

A Party, if not but for it's creation at that much needed Political moment 1990 Cameroon would have still been in the dark, stripped off of all political advancements and evolution.

Thanks to Fru Ndi and SDF, Cameroonians became awakened, multiparty politics came in place, the right to say, think or do anything freely came to pass and Cameroonians today to an extend enjoy liberal rights.

Not complete Liberation, I must emphasis as the old schools and enlightened Cameroonians will want. That is taking over power or the Presidency of Cameroon. In Fru Ndi's political career, on three executive counts, he tried to pick the high office of the President of the Republic, but failed thanks to an electoral process he often define to be irregular and was only kicked out of the political circumference by the much more relevant MRC Party of Maurice Kamto today.

Maurice Kamto, Cabral Libil, Serge Matombo and the Anglophone Liberation War of Independence of late have made rubbish of Fru Ndi and his one time famous liberation political party.

 News during the weekend of Fru Ndi retiring from active Politics and political life took the population aback and it’s staunch militants by surprise. Who at all levels still saw  hope and possibilities in their old ailing political figure or icon.

It is all unfortunate, but from all indication Fru Ndi himself have discovered that he has lost value and is short of the political strength to liberate Cameroonians and as such has to hand over.

To who? And why now? Is the one dollar question political pundits are asking Fru Ndi? That after auctioning and stripping SDF naked,  he has decided to hand over the Party? To who and who will want to shoulder or bear such a risk.

Hear over vexed pundits, “ if it has reached a level that Almighty Fru Ndi can no longer come to Bamenda for fear of Amba Boys then who is that Cameroonian to take the crown of a fallen hero full of thorns?

Joe Ntarikon is now past tense in the political history of Cameroon, that you and I should accept without reserve. With your permission, What have suddenly become of his J Rowling's and Mandela ambition? What a miasma, when you fight a fight and leave it half way, you must live to fight the uncompleted battle or bury your head in shame or disgrace. What have become of those young Cameroonians who died for power to the people freedom movement fight in the early 90s? What more of those whose hands were amputated because of grenade and those who inhaled teargas  profusely.” Abakwa Don suffer plenty!” With all these political turn around, blunders or mix ups,  Can any one dabble with or question Prof Asonganyi’s one time appellation and declaration that from all indication Fru Ndi is now CPDM Mezam V section President? The Big Answer is?....

The political game has played and outlived Fru Ndi nobody will deny it. Pa to be honest and by his own right  thinking self is now of no use. But posterity will have to judge him for not taking Cameroonians across or Liberating them completely. Hear most of those  fuming with anger today “why will he not dump the Party? Haven’t stock piled more than  enough for himself and his  family? God is watching, how many young Cameroonians are miserable today because of Pa and his Party? Bamenda people are waiting for him”.

HEAD OF STATE’S MESSAGE TO THE YOUTH 

 Yaounde, 10 February 2021 

My dear young compatriots, 

The Youth Day celebration this year is taking place shortly after the successful organization of the 6th edition of the Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) Cameroon 2020, which our country had the privilege of hosting from 16 January to 7 February 2021. 

It was an excellent opportunity to commune with all young African sports men and women and to showcase the vitality of the Cameroonian people. 

On that occasion, Cameroon, which is renowned for its legendary hospitality, was up to the task, thanks notably to the massive mobilization of its dynamic, talented and enthusiastic youth. 

By hosting the Total CHAN 2020, our country was able to offer other young people from Africa and the world a wonderful sports and cultural festival, as well as a pleasant moment of entertainment, within a rather challenging health context. 

As we can see, compliance with the preventive measures prescribed by the Government and with other measures requested by the organizers of the tournament, helped to ensure the smooth organization in Cameroon, a country of fraternity and peace, of the first international competition in a world that is grappling with the coronavirus. 

Given the success of this sporting event, I feel like saying that 2021 is beginning on a positive note for our youth. And I hope that this breath of fresh air will rekindle lasting hope in every one of you. 

Another event, the Africa Cup of Nations, Total AFCON Cameroon 2021, will take place in 2022. I have no doubt that it will be another opportunity for you to express your dynamism, talent and enthusiasm. 

In spite of the difficult economic situation, our country is well prepared for both events. We have built ultra-modern facilities, some of which were used for the first time during CHAN that has just ended. We have to learn to preserve them. 

On account of their multiple achievements, Cameroon’s young sports men and women deserve the sacrifices made for these major investments. This should be a genuine motive of pride for all of us and an encouragement to win more victories. 

I want to call on Cameroonian football governing bodies to pull themselves together and restore order to their organization. It is only in so doing that we can create the best conditions for the sustained development of our football. 

My dear young compatriots, 

As I have often told you, you should never lose hope in your country. You should have faith in the future of a winning Cameroon where everyone is willing to work for the general interest. You should remain at the forefront to fight the vital battles of your time. 

This does not mean that I am overlooking the difficulties you are facing. However, remember, two years ago, under the same circumstances, I told you, along the same lines, that each generation has a historic mission to accomplish for the future of the Nation.  

It is obvious that your mission today is the preservation of the peace, unity and prosperity of our country, beyond the inescapable constraints due to the changes taking place in the world. 

Peace is a prerequisite for progress. As you are aware, it has been threatened for a few years now in our country by armed gangs that are spreading terror on the western border of the Far-North, and in some areas in the North-West and South-West. Our eastern border is also facing insecurity. 

Fortunately, courageous and patriotic Cameroonian youths are effectively playing their role as the driving force in the defence of the Fatherland on these different fronts. 

Our young soldiers are actively engaged with determination, professionalism and a high sense of sacrifice in restoring peace to our country. 

Similarly, within the framework of the Army-Nation tandem, young people are the most active in vigilante committees which are providing valuable support to the Defence and Security Forces. 

These dedicated and committed youths are the pride of our country. They are a model of abnegation, patriotic awareness, service for the common interest and preservation of national sovereignty and unity. 

May their example inspire you in various other aspects of national life. 

Concerning national unity, some of you have unfortunately chosen to rally behind the demons of hatred and division. Driven by barbaric fanaticism, often whipped up and nurtured from foreign countries, or by a perverse use of social media, they try to undermine the foundations of the Nation.  

They are “anti-role models”. I urge you to stay away from them. They are not contributing to building a prosperous Cameroon that is united in its diversity, an exemplary Cameroon that we all fervently long for. 

My dear young compatriots, 

Our country has just completed the establishment of its democratic institutions, as provided for by the Constitution. Many young people are part of the various parliamentary, municipal and regional bodies. This is the way the generational transition in the management of public affairs is prepared. 

Time for politicking is therefore over. It is now time to resolutely get back to work. 

Regional and local authorities constitute a source of opportunities that I urge you to seize. 

The Government, for its part, will continue its efforts to develop the entire country. The effective participation of young people in the Nation’s socio-economic life will continue to be at the centre of its action. In that connection, it will ensure that they are increasingly involved in decision-making concerning them. 

The broad outlines of our country’s progress towards emergence by 2035 have been redefined in our National Development Strategy adopted recently. It is necessary to fully acquaint yourselves with it so as to identify all the opportunities it offers. 

Prior to that, however, I had already ordered the development of several youth support programmes. These initiatives are being implemented in various production sectors. 

I once more call on the Government to work towards ensuring the successful implementation of these programmes. The solution of the thorny problem of youth employment in our country depends to a large extent on their implementation. 

The programmes include:  

- the “Special Youth” Three-year Plan which, in 2020, financed about 5 500 projects for a total amount of nearly 15 billion CFA francs, thus enabling the settlement of a little more than 16 000 young people in 66 second-generation pioneer villages. 

- the Decent Employment Promotion Programme which aims to create  500 000 jobs during the 2021 financial year. 

My dear young compatriots, 

Nation building is the responsibility of all of us. It requires a spirit of harmony and tolerance among citizens. I therefore urge you to cultivate this spirit at all times, and to champion peace in order not to squander the opportunities that your country is offering you. 

As the majority sociological component, mobilize for the future of your country, Cameroon, a stable, united and prosperous Cameroon. It is your priceless heritage. 

Be pragmatic and persevering. Do not yield to pessimism and discouragement. Shun adventurous paths and those that seek easy gain. 

If you embark on the conquest of the world, come back to build your country. Promote Cameroon like your compatriots, namely: 

- the physicist, Arsène Stéphane TEMA BIWOLE, at General Atomics;  

- the mathematician and computer scientist, Thystère Djob MVONDO, who has just brilliantly defended his doctorate thesis at the age of 22; 

- the writer, Djaïli AMADOU AMAL, who, as you know, won the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens 2020; and 

- many others that I cannot name here. 

My dear young compatriots,  

It is in so doing that you will effectively contribute to building a strong, united, democratic, decentralized and emerging Cameroon by 2035. I know you can do it. I count on you.

Trump Impeached at last after Capitol Attack

The House of Representatives voted Wednesday to impeach President Trump for "high crimes and misdemeanors" — specifically, for inciting an insurrection against the federal government at the U.S. Capitol.Just one week before he will leave office, Trump has now become the first U.S. president to be impeached twice.
Wednesday's vote came a week after Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in a chaotic scene that left five people dead.
Ten Republicans broke party ranks to vote in favor of impeachment, including Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, who chairs the House Republican Conference.
"None of this would have happened without the President," Cheney said in a statement Tuesday explaining her vote. "The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not. There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution."

Communique

A series of dreadful killings of civilians by the “armed separatist” and the military have ushered in the year 2021. These killings have seemingly blurred the ray of hope for the year 2021. 2020 was a very challenging year for Cameroonians and the world at large. Unfortunately, the sounds of guns and bombs have become the music of the dawn of the New Year. These series of dreadful killings defy some ongoing moves towards peace and the nationally organized Ecumenical / Inter-religious march for peace on January 2, 2021 by Religious Leaders in Cameroon. We the Religious Leaders will not be deterred in our prophetic role as the conscience of the Nation. We condemn forcefully and unequivocally all those who perpetrate violence in our Nation. Violence will never win, but justice and peace will.

On Wednesday January 6; we learned with consternation the killing of five, including one female journalist by a roadside bomb that exploded on a convoy of Government Officials being escorted by the military between Andek and Mbengwi. 

On Friday, January 8; we learned with shock and disbelief the attack on the army post at Matazem – Santa with a casualty count of four military and two civilians. 

On Saturday, January 9; “unidentified” men killed the five-year old son of our Pastor behind his house in Wum – Menchum Division. 

On Sunday, January 10; it is alleged that at least 9 civilians including a child were killed in Mautu – Muyuka Sub-Division.

The prevalence of these gruesome and inhuman acts on Cameroonians indicates that this cycle of violence is in no way near the end. The complex nature of the attacks and counter-attacks, the further use of explosives insinuates the determination of both the military and the “armed separatist” forces to continue on the path of war. This is a worrisome concern because justice, dialogue and not war leads to sustainable peace. 

As religious leaders, we condemn in the strongest terms all forms of violence that continues to bring untold pain and torture to Cameroonians. We condemn all those who waste life made in the image of God. We condemn all those who spill sacred blood, let them be reminded that God will hold each one of us accountable for acts that contradict his Will and Wisdom behind Creation. Furthermore, history will not pardon the main actors of this epoch of blood and war.

Once more, we call on the Government of Cameroon to take her responsibility to bring this conflict to an end and to earn her rightful place as the custodian of national life and welfare. We insist on the “armed separatist” and their Leaders to value human life and stop the torments and killings mated on the very people they are trying to free. As Religious Leaders, we would continue to lead our adherents to remain on their knees in prayers and will make ourselves available as mediators in the search for durable Peace and Justice. 

The above dark picture of our country notwithstanding, we wish that you give a thought to Peace and Justice for this New Year 2021. May God bless your dreams, your families, your communities and our country Cameroon.

2021 Year of Great Reckoning for America, As Biden Warmup to Take Over Presidency: Stop Trump Before He Burns America

-“Like it or not Trump is up to something and it will land the world somewhere.  He is naturally unapologetic, his last Media Outing Shows no Remorse. What he said entirely was to Safe his face and image in front of a gang of monster supporters who had gone out of control and beyond what he expected”

-Trump's secret agenda to destabilize America with hired gullible motives  are gradually coming to the Lime light.

Our dear readers in this year of our Lord, I write this special article with tears in my eyes and motivated by the fact that world diplomacy has been reduced to nothing and ridiculed by a power hungry individual.

Only God alone knows the secret agenda of trump or mission why he has to destabilize America before leaving it. A Country he promised to make great some two years ago. So far, we can figure out some of his schemes or plots as he dabble with last words of a dying and a humiliated President. America has  never gone through such a lamentable situation? What a mockery.

It is unfortunate that this is the first time Presidential elections are disputed in the political history of America by a sitting President who questions his own very electoral process and charge them for being unfair and is openly challenging the Democratic process he himself promised to restructure and make great. Again What an irony?

The same trump mocked Africa, likened them to shithole countries, bypassed the rights of women and today makes mockery of every reality of world respect for America’s authoritarian rule and diplomacy because of power drunkenness.

Helpless in the face of all the disorder he sparked during and after elections, he is now threatening security actions when it is too late. The one Billions dollar question is, why did he not stop his gang before they stormed Capitol? Does his last twit not say it all before he was blocked by social media Giants?, If he is and is still not truly ill intended, why is he planning soon to create his own global social media network? Certainly to continue with the confusion in America as Joe takes over Presidency and yet he is promising a smooth transition on the 20th of January this 2021.

Trump killed the Iranian General and till date the Muslim world has known no peace with America. He authorized individual possession of arms in America to prepare his loyalists against the state, that again should be taken note of.

Trump happens to be the first Republicans President, if I am not mistaken who is soon to go under the annals of American history for ruling just for a mandate with all sort of scandalous reports, for Trump’s gang to attack major towns during and after elections in America, it means, Donald Trump means real business.

Business, in the sense that it is either Trump or nobody caring less of America's image, dignity and integrity in the face of humanity as a leading world power.

What a mockery and shame to America deliberately fashioned on her by an individual? How will America later dictate to other countries? His atrocities has reduced America to zero and is no longer regarded exemplary? Where is the world heading to?

Truly, trump is hired by forces beyond to bring down, better still burn down what it took African slaves decades to build and has stood the taste of time for centuries.

Who will deny what I am saying? Has it ever occurred in world history that an individual dispute his own very electoral process and system? It is scandalous and shameful.

As I write, I make analysis with tears in my eyes,  regretting how other countries who use to see America as Super power will regard her after all the stench placed on her by Trump.

What a shame,? And disgrace on a highly respected country stigmatized by an individual. America thanks to the atrocious acts of a gullible individual is presently been made a laughing stock in the phase of humanity.

Who said trump is not up to something, or out on a devilish mission, for the first time after elections, there is post election violence currently going on all over America.

The world is looking keenly on what will become or end of Trump’s machinations in America? What a shame as the world looks up to America on January 2021 to see whether Biden will be given power through smooth transition or Trump will maintain outright grip over power?

The 20th of this month is not far and the world is watching in agony and fear of what may erupt from America and consume other parts of the world. 

Other world leaders to be frank, are helpless in the phase of the very complex situation and held all at spell bound. Macron's last night’s media Outing was not for nothing.

“This is The Make America Great Again” campaign slogan of Trump “my foot” posterity will judge all us. God is watching! I rest my observations for now. Like it or not Trump is up to something and it will land the world somewhere, the truth is loading and the future pregnant for America, Americans and the world.

HEAD OF STATE’S NEW YEAR MESSAGE TO THE NATION

Fellow Cameroonians, 

My dear compatriots, 

I am convinced that you understand why I am beginning this traditional message by talking about the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic on our planet. In this regard, 2020 will undoubtedly be remembered as a dark year marked by hundreds of thousands of deaths worldwide. 

Like almost all countries, Cameroon was affected, perhaps less severely than other States. Despite our efforts, COVID-19 plunged many families into mourning and seriously hampered the functioning of our economy and society. 

I take this opportunity to hail once more the dedication of our physicians, nurses and health personnel as a whole, thanks to whom many lives have been and continue to be saved. 

It is perhaps too early to try to draw lessons from this painful episode which, moreover, is continuing. Needless to recall that this pandemic is not the first and history has it that epidemics wiped out entire populations, the most recent occurring in the wake of the First World War. 

Should man take the blame because of his wanton exploitation of the planet’s natural resources and his constant engagement in conflicts eading to massacres and diseases, as well as experiments to develop new weapons?  I believe the question needs to be asked. Whatever the answer, our era should take credit for clearly posing the problem of the relationship between man and his natural environment. This was, I believe, the objective of the Paris Conference on Global Warming, whose recommendations are still relevant today. 

In any case, we should not rest on our laurels. I have personally observed that most of our fellow citizens no longer comply with the protective measures prescribed by the Government.  

At a time when, everywhere else, there is a second wave of the epidemic, coupled with the appearance of a new and more contagious strain of the virus, I urge you once again to put on your face masks, to wash your hands regularly and to consult a physician or any other health personnel if you notice any symptoms. This is the only way to save lives and to curb the spread of the virus.  

My dear compatriots, 

Our focus on the health situation did not prevent us from devoting ourselves to other essential tasks related to the management of our country, namely: 

- maintaining security and peace throughout our national territory; 

- strengthening our democratic process; and 

- pursuing our economic, social and cultural development programme. 

In recent years, our country has been facing external threats, particularly on our eastern border and in the northern part of our country. 

In the first case, the threat comes from highway robbers lured by easy prey, namely peaceful stockbreeders and their herds.  

In the second, the threat now takes the form of isolated raids by Boko Haram or suicide bomb attempts by teenagers. The effective vigilance and action of our Defence and Security Forces have significantly reduced the activities of these criminals.  

The situation is different in the North-West and South-West Regions where armed groups maintain an atmosphere of terror and insecurity. They attack isolated communities and educational institutions from time to time to discourage parents from sending their children to school. The list of atrocities and crimes committed by these groups is already long. One of the most heinous of them is that which took place in Kumba recently, resulting in the death of seven school children with several others injured. 

This crime, which is a shock to the human conscience, will not go unpunished. All the perpetrators will be hunted down relentlessly and brought to justice. Already, public opinion, particularly in the two regions concerned, can realize, if that is not yet the case, that these so-called “secessionists” are actually nothing more than murderers, and what is more, murderers of innocent children.  To say that the Kumba carnage caused widespread outrage is an understatement. 

I would now like to appeal, once more, to the sense of responsibility of the friendly countries hosting the sponsors and of the organizations financing and running the armed gangs in the North-West and South-West Regions, through various channels. All those who would be identified at the end of investigations as initiators or accomplices of these odious crimes will answer for their actions. 

Yet our Government has continued to demonstrate its commitment to openness and dialogue by, for example, releasing many former secessionists and facilitating their reintegration into society.  

Furthermore, after the Major National Dialogue, the Government fast-tracked the implementation of an ambitious decentralization policy which includes a special status for our North-West and South-West Regions, which takes into account their specificities and aspirations. 

I once more urge the youths who have been enlisted in armed gangs to come out of the bush and sign up with the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) centres in order to return to a normal life, like their other young compatriots. 

The prevailing insecurity in the North-West and South-West Regions has caused untold damage to our country. Our democracy allows for the peaceful expression of all opinions, in compliance with the laws and regulations in force. Otherwise, peace and stability would be jeopardized. 

I hail the patriotic spirit of those of our fellow citizens in the North-West and South-West Regions who are not only increasingly cooperating with the Defence and Security Forces, but are also courageously fighting these armed gangs. They have realized that these gangs are not acting in the interest of the people.  

I would also like to commend here the bravery of our Defence and Security Forces that have not failed in their duty to protect the integrity of the national territory, the people and property. They deserve the respect and consideration of everyone. I encourage them to keep it up and to remain a republican force that respects human rights. 

It is equally regrettable that some of our compatriots, who rallied around a personality who failed to achieve his ambitions during the last presidential election, took advantage of security and health difficulties to try to stir up a revolt falsely referred to as “peaceful marches”. Fortunately, very few people took part in these marches, thanks to the maturity of Cameroonians. 

Needless to recall that in a democracy, access to political office is secured through the ballot box and not through the street, certain media organs or social media networks. 

This is precisely the case in Cameroon where the democratic process is being conducted in accordance with the provisions of our Constitution and the rules laid down by our laws, as amply illustrated by the following recent happenings:  

- In March 2018, the term of office of Senators was renewed. 

- In October 2018, the Head of State was elected with an overwhelming majority. 

- In February 2020, legislative elections were held, with the Government securing a comfortable majority in the National Assembly. 

- On the same date, municipal elections put an end to the system of government delegates in major towns, which are now managed by elected mayors. 

- In December 2020, regional elections completed the implementation of the provisions of the decentralization process. 

Thus, with each passing day, our political will to implement the democratic agenda that is in line with the genuine aspirations of the Cameroonian people is further strengthened, an agenda initiated upon my accession to the helm of State and which led, a few years later, to the institution of the multiparty system. 

To those who are criticizing the imperfections of our democracy, I would like to say that it took us just a few decades to put it in place. The major democratic countries, for their part, did so only after several centuries marked by revolutions, civil wars and even episodes of dictatorship.  

For my part, I am well aware of all that is still to be done. I am, however, convinced that we are on the right track and that soon we will all be proud of our democratic progress. 

My dear compatriots, 

It must be acknowledged that the international context - in particular the coronavirus pandemic and the decline in global growth – took a toll on the performance of our public finance and our economy during the year that is drawing to an end. 

While maintaining our growth targets, we had to take fiscal consolidation and economic support measures in order to weather these difficult times and enable the implementation of a recovery policy in 2021. 

Thus, a decision was taken to finalize African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2021 and Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2022 projects, and to continue to implement plans for the reconstruction and development of the North-West, South-West and Far-North Regions. 

Despite these efforts, it is expected that our growth rate, which had stabilized at around 4% in recent years, will witness a sharp decline in 2020 and that inflation will inch up. This is undoubtedly due to the impact of the global economic downturn and our domestic economic trends, especially the increase in security spending. 

Nonetheless, Cameroon’s economy has maintained a certain capacity to rebound despite the difficulties. Thanks to support from our international partners and, in the event of a decline in the pandemic, there is reason to hope for recovery in the coming months. 

In the same vein, I would now like to draw your attention to the recent launch of our National Development Strategy (NDS) which replaces the Growth and Employment Strategy Paper (GESP) that has come to an end. 

The National Development Strategy defines the main thrusts of our planning up to 2030. The document draws lessons from past experiences and sets new goals for the next decade, notably the structural transformation of our economy and inclusive development.  

It will therefore be necessary to step up the fight against poverty, unemployment and the lingering informal sector. It will also be necessary to strive to achieve an 8% growth rate by embarking on the structural transformation of our economy and enhancing the effectiveness of public spending. In so doing, we will put all the odds of achieving emergence by 2035 on our side. 

Naturally, we will also continue to implement our social development policy which was defined at the start of the current seven-year term concerning youth employment, education, health and family. 

These, my dear compatriots, are the outlines of the action that the Government has, despite the difficulties, strove to implement in recent months and that it will continue to implement in the coming years, which will be crucial for our progress towards emergence. 

I am convinced that we will be able to achieve our objectives, provided that we agree to make the required efforts and to embark on the needed reforms.

My dear compatriots, 

The year that is ending has not been an easy one. We had to meet many major challenges. We must remain united and determined, like in the past. The Cameroonian people have always risen to the challenges facing them. 

We should be proud of this.

2020 End of Year Message From Honourable NGALA Gerard NDOMBANG, Member of Parliament For Donga Mantung Centre Constituency.

It's a great honour for me to attempt a balance sheet of the year that will soon run out, while making projections into the New Year. The year 2020 was a very rough one to most economies around the world and Cameroon, our beloved fatherland was not spared. The covid-19 pandemic dealt a serious blow to almost every aspect of our national life. Thanks to the foresight of the Head of State, president Paul Biya,  the ravaging effects of this deadly pandemic were both mitigated and contained. My deepest sympathy goes to the families that lost their loved ones as a result of this ravaging Pandemic. 

The president of the Republic signed a Finance Ordinance paving the way for the National Assembly to modify the initial state budget as a stop gab measure to downplay the adverse effects of this global health crisis. Despite the economic setbacks Cameroon experienced due to covid-19, it was equally another opportunity for our economy to test her resilience. The 9th February Legislative and Municipal Elections went on as planned. This paved the way for the Regional Elections which was organised on December 6th 2020; the final step towards the putting in place of an effective decentralisation in Cameroon as well as the eventual implementation of the Special Status to the North West and South West regions: a vital outcome of the Major National Dialogue. The cultural specifications of these two regions shall be greatly enhanced by this new arrangement.

The ten regions of Cameroon shall henceforth enjoy a considerable degree of autonomy, a springboard towards our growing democracy and our quest for greater participation in matters of development. It's our turn to exploit this opportunity and forge ahead despite the hurdles.

We hail the education stakeholders of our country especially those in the North West and South West regions for braving the odds to make sure the right to education of the children of these regions were never compromised. Some of them achieved this even at the peril of their own lives, very sad indeed. The Kumba macabre incident remains fresh in our minds. May the souls of these martyrs of education receive Divine justice.

As the new year draws near, we bid farewell to 2020 with a heavy heart. A year with lots of downs, Covid 19 with its ramifications on businesses, education and most especially our health, the Ngarbuh incident, the Kumba massacre which let to loss of civilian lives many of them children.  Even as our pillows were soaked in tears with these unfortunate incidents , attempts were made to exploit such misfortunes for political earns. Quite strange. Politics remains a competition of ideas and impact, never a mischievous adventure. With all these challenges, the state as usual stood it grounds to mobilise resources to fight the deadly global pandemic, establish responsibilities in various macabre incidents and bringing the culprits to book. 

A careful examination of challenges in our urban settings especially the poor waste management scheme, inspired me to nurture this project of full transition from linear to Circular Economy by initiating the Parliamentary Network for Circular Economy (PANCEC), a few months into my parliamentary activities. The project is on track, expected to generate almost five thousand green jobs by militating that all councils of Cameroun attain Financial Autonomy by embarking on Circular Economy. This initiative to revamp our national economy considering the changes brought by the Corona Virus, was after a careful analysis embraced by the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Right Honourable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, who signed an order creating PANCEC on September 3rd 2020. The initiative which is not only an option for government to help decentralized local communities to attain financial autonomy, is a unique opportunity for my humble person to support the Head of State in the implementation of effective decentralization and the attainment of the emergence goal come 2035. This was preceded by an elective convention during which my humble self was elected president of the Executive Bureau. 

The new year which  is pregnant with hope and great expectations starts with a lot of hope as the Head of State on the 30/12/2020 signed a decree that brought up and hamonised  the retirement age to 60 years for categories A and B civil servants. Africa and the rest of the world shall turn their attention to Cameroon as we play host to African Nations Championship, CHAN. The world class sporting infrastructures put in place by the government is a mark of readiness and it is our fervent wish that the football fans feed their anxiety with great spectacle from this soccer jamboree. 

All structures have been put in place for effective decentralisation to take effect next year; the regional councils, the city councils and the councils. This coupled with the anticipated budgetary upsurge to these local collectivities inspire hope of greater participation, accountability and consequently the enhancement of sustainable development. It shall be up to us to take advantage of the available opportunities offered us.

We shall continue to work tirelessly towards the disarmament, demobilisation and deradicalisation of the ex-secessionist fighters for an eventual reintegration into the society through the provision of jobs and other forms of income generating activities.  This shall continue to systematically improve the security situation in the restive regions of North West and South West of Cameroon. This is a prerequisite to improve the education and health facilities as well as road networks, and the marshal plan for the reconstruction of the battered regions.

At the local level, we're working very hard to keep our campaign promises. We won against the backdrop of security concerns and wanton destructions. Our campaign slogan "Peace Crusader, to Rebuild and Restore our Community" is gradually being transformed into concrete reality. Back to School is already a dream come true in all the five Subdivisions of Donga Mantung Division in particular and the two English Speakling Regions in general with little foot dragging notwithstanding in some areas. More and more people are returning home to take up their normal daily activities. This is thanks to the consistent efforts we've made towards restoring peace and serenity.

 In the domain of road infrastructure, the Magba-Kakar stretch is under construction thanks to our efforts. This is the main corridor that links Donga Mantung to the rest of the country since the blockage of the Kumbo- Ndu stretch is still very effective. In Nkambe town, most roads have been graded with gutters and some bridges constructed but for the fact that the Kumbo Quarry which supplies aggregates for tarring is down as a result of the crisis, those  streets would have been tarred by now . The Binshua-Binjeng-Binka road has been graded and the Mamba bridge at Kungi under construction. The Binjeng-Binshua bridge has been constructed as well. 

 Fon's Palace Tabenken, GHS Tabenken and Bondu quarters have been electrified to further serve Mbibu, Njilah and Kudu quarters. GTC Tabenken went operational less than one month after official announcement creating the school thanks to our timely intervention. We constructed two blocks of six classrooms in GS Bondu to provide an enabling environment for teaching and learning. All these are part of our campaign promises that we realised in less than nine months in office. We intend to spread our tentacles to other parts of the constituency as normalcy continues to gain momentum.

We are grateful to the dynamic team that make things happen in our constituency. I salute the dynamism of the Mayors of Nkambe and Ndu and the selfless elites who compliment our efforts at every given opportunity. The ease with which this synergy bears fruits has been so far very satisfactory. 

We thank the different media organs, development associations and NGOs who trailed our activities sometimes crediting our efforts with very encouraging awards. To those who were critical of our efforts, we took notice and pray next time they don’t do so as a form of blackmail but as  way to bring their contribution to trigger the positive energy in me to do better.

As we remember the 39 who recently perished in a ghastly accident on the Bafoussam-Yaounde highway, we pray for speedy recovery for those who suffered injuries of varying magnitude. We cease this opportunity to extend our condolence to families who've lost love ones in the course of this year sometimes under very tragic circumstances. I  hereby exhort all travel agencies and road users to take all necessary precautions to preserve the lives of Cameroonians on our highways. 

This new year ushers in another opportunity for us to rise to the pinnacle of sustainable endeavours. We pray for a good dose of courage needed to surmount the obstacles we might encounter on our path. As former US president Thomas Jefferson puts it: "nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude". A man's character is his fate.

President General Nigerian Union Bamenda, Offers thanks Giving Mass after Last Attempt on Life by Gunmen

The tragic incident took place on the 18th of November 2020 at Azire New Church Junction Bamenda around the early hours of 8:00 Pm where a gang of hired assassins trailing the President from church to kill, fired four times on his car but he miraculously escaped with sustained injuries which was immediately handled through strict Medical attention thereafter by a cream of specialized Medical Doctors of the St. Mary Hospital.

Thank God, he responded to treatment and after regaining health quickly Prince Ituen Otobong chose to come back to the house of God and give him all the thanks for sparing his life through special Grace.

In so doing he invited the Nigerian community who gathered in their numbers at the Church of Christ to jointly and joyfully praise God for saving the life of their President. 

That was on Sunday the 13 of December 2020 at Independent street Bamenda, where Mass took place. During the high point of the praise and thanks giving service, one of the chief celebrant Evangelist Andrew Ihedi in his preaching and teachings called on all present to see the “Hand of God in every situation” whether good or Bad. That God knows why and how in every situation, which is why he is in special control of every situation.

The President General of the Nigerian Union who doubles as a Minister of God, Chief celebrant and convener of the said thanks giving service on his part, recounted how he narrowly escaped death thrice since November 2018 till date and the last one almost took his life away,  a month ago this 2020. In one he had a car accident, the other was fire consuming his car and the most recent were hired Gunmen who opened fire at him in the car four times. To God be the glory, he recounted calling on all Nigerians to believe in the power of God and shun all fear.

Speaking to the Press in a rather hopeful tongue, he praised the Lord for what happened, called on God to forgive those hired to assassinate him and thanked the Nigerian community for their spiritual, moral and material support. In another direction, he encouraged his Nigerian counterparts not to be scared of what happened to him, that they should go about their business activities and have nothing to do with the internal crisis affecting Cameroon. He added, that the Cameroon government should seek for fast ways on ending the armed conflict as it escalates.
