✓Ngwa Afanwi Neba and many other Buea
University Students Found missing, dead, raped injured.
Missing just as many other students
who were whisked and are held captive at the Buea and Douala maximum security
Prison facilities and cells, simply because they are decrying bad management of
school administration, the non-respect of English as the sole language of
instruction, for the lack of disbursement of presidential grants and out right
penalties imposed on students to extort money on late registration.
This phenomenon of abusive University
management amongst a plethora of grievances accumulated to provoke the students
to rise up against University administration.
In response the Nalova Lyonga
University government of late has resorted to brutal and repressive measures.
Bringing into campus and all over Buea armed military men who have since taken
the town hostage with the firing of live ammunitions, tear gassing on harmless
students etc.
As we report, serial arrests are
still ongoing, most especially as the government and the Buea University
administration are trying to do all in their possible best to contain and stop
the infiltration of lawyers and teachers into the matter, given that they are
on an indefinite strike since October 6th.
These strike actions have since
engulfed all the Anglophone speaking part of Cameroon and is growing in
momentum daily. Demanding a clear status for Anglophone lawyers and democratic
cum social rights of teachers.
These dual scenes of late is turning
Buea up side down and causing many to flee for their dear lives as insecurity
challenge heightens.
Reaching our press room at press time
two students are reported dead, while others are being raped, injured and many
missing including one Ngwa Afanwi Neba who is one of the protest leaders as
hinted by his classmates to our reporter. What must be noted is that the sad
situation at stake is growing in momentum and demands urgent human rights
intervention or the worst is yet to come.
