Cameroon Journalists to Stage Nation Wide Strike Over Non Disbursement of COVID-19 Media Funds

Cameroon Journalists to Stage Nation Wide Strike Over Non Disbursement of COVID-19 Media Funds
Directors of Cameroon Newspapers Plus other Private Media organs are fintuning and finalizing plans to Stage a Nation Wide Strike against the Minister of Health Dr. Manaouda Malaichi, officials managing the special emergency solidarity funds put up by the Head of State President Paul Biya, research officials under the Ministry in question and finance controllers of Corona funds mid June 2020.
This decision comes against the backdrop of the fact that the Ministry of health has since the advent of CORONA virus manifested bad faith and showed little or no concern on the Private Media who have been championing the crusade against COVID-19 with little or no support from the Ministry in question.
The fight against COVID-19 in Cameroon according to the Media should be 60% by the Press and 40% by the medical Corp because the whole exercise requires ceaseless, education, sensitization and awareness campaigns that runs from the urban cities down to the grassroots.
It is unfortunate that mindful of the major role the press is suppose to play, she is less looked upon or supported in their respective lives saving Media outings and campaigns.
Too much protocol in the disbursement and management of funds to combat COVID-19 is further breeding inertia in the whole campaign exercise and annoying not only the press but also some health officials who for lack of motivation are not encouraged to keep bearing the risk.
Emergency relief funds are supposed to be disboursed without delay and strings attached in time to meet the expected goal which has to do with saving lives. But as we report, it is unfortunate that billions pumped in by IMF, WHO plus the chunk entering the emergency Solidarty funds is yet to meet the expected goal or hit the target.
Where we are at this point in time in the history of the fight against CORONA virus in Cameroon, the call for the multiplication of testing and treatment centers in the 10 Regional head quarters is yet to be meet as COVID-19 positive cases rise exponentially.
Worst of it all, no clear statement of account has been presented by the Ministry in question of what has come in, how much has been spend and what is left.
The COVID-19 situation and its increasing figures do not speak well of containment measures most especially at the verge of school reopening over the national territory this June 1st 2020 as Government instructed.
Which is the more reason why Media actors and practitioner's see reason for the intensification of campaigns against the virus and to vulgarise the population to spare no effort in the respect of health tips.
This goal according to these Press Men and Women can only be attained if they, put pressure on a heady and a tide feasted Government through strike. Affaire a suivre, chose a verifier.......

"SDF Burried at 30"

"SDF Burried at 30"

No sound reasoning mind will deny the fact that the Social Democratic Front, (SDF) one time Cameroon's Leading opposition political party, the architect of Cameroon's fundamental rights to liberty and democracy in the early 90s is burried for good.
It is unfortunate, but the facts are there you will bear with this Reporter. That after the April 2013 Senatorial election in Cameroon, the one time limping SDF went back to it kneels crawling like a child, only to suffer final stroke with the Advent of the Anglophone war of Independence in 2016 that chased SDF completely from the political scene.
The rising popularity of Kamto's MRC after the 2018 Presidential election has and is continuing to posse as  another major source of threat to the one time vibrant Cameroon's liberation Party.
The crumbling health situation of NI John Fru Ndi the National chairman of the party, plus his absence on the political scene has created a great  vaccum within his party circles most especially as some of his "Eye Servants" disserted and abandon party activities immidiately after they noticed his absence and falling popularity.
COVID-19 to an extent is contributing in burrying all SDF party activities and justifying the gullible behaviors of some of it's "run away MPs,  and Senators,  who are now taking advantage of the  law prohibiting people from regrouping, in strict respect of  the rules on social distancing as a pretext not to exercise party duties.
If it is not the case, why has this particular day in the history of the party gone solo in Cameroon? SDF was given birth to on the 26th of May 1990, and today marks her 30th birthday after it's silver jubilee which was celeberated all over the national territory in pomp and fanfare.
To put it straight, where SDF is, she is beyond repairs and no longer taken serious by sound critical minds who now suppose the Party to be a wing of the ruling party the CPDM.
Nemesis has caught SDF and from all indication it is time for some party officials to pay back in the very coins they duped and manipulated the population with.
"SDF is Gone, whether we like it or not at 30, a ripe age. Let's stop pretending".

Biya Resurrects Again, Takes Cameroonians Aback

Biya breaks the Silence: Resurrects with Marshal Plan to Combat COVID-19

To the best of this Reporter's Knowledge and and if at all he is not mistaken, "the Biya" in quotes known to be death two months ago or killed by social media, took the Cameroonian public aback when he came out live on the 19th of May 2020, Eve to National unity day celebration in Cameroon.
His former outings to receive the French Ambassador and the UN official within the one month interval known to be death was not so telling and significant like the last outing which he made yesterday.
The outing, least expected according to prophets of doom "who are still to be convinced that Biya is alive". Is still, yet another Cooked up arrangements to keep on manipulating Cameroonians.
Bonafide Cameroonians on their part, who believe in the system, see the head of State's outing "as a silencer, that came to silence a lot of doubt in the minds of doubting Thomas" not only that, he technically avoided all sensitive issues in the direction of reunification, the fight against Boko Haram, the ongoing Anglophone crisis, internal economic wrangles, and dwelled more on what is now termed as the World's Major source of distraction or threat CORONA.
If I am not mistaken the word COVID-19 is mentioned in his unceremonious address to the nation almost about 12 times to lay emphasis on his Marshal plan to combat the virus. His address in it's entirety was on COVID-19 and nothing else.
Which provoked another source for debate from political pundits who have since his last lives saving outing  not have intellectual peace.
One, why on addressing the Nation  Eve to National day, didn't say anything on the reunification of the two Cameroons with the ongoing Anglophone crisis.
Why did he chose to talk of CORONA now, when it had long made it's way into Cameroon?
Was he not trying to camorflash or disprove something?
What was the Cameroon Government up to again?
Was that not another tele-manipulated evidence to justify that Biya is alive?
Are the series of questions hitting political chats. One thing is clear, Biya spoke the other day, took Cameroonians aback and he is now resurrecting for the third time if I am not mistaken in the history of Cameroon and has to exhaust his MANDATE all things being equal.

Biya Speaks to the Nation at Last after Suspicion of Death, Lays Emphasis on the Fight against COVID-19, Pacify Cameroonians.

HEAD OF STATE’S MESSAGE TO THE NATION

********
On the Eve of the National Day, 20 May 2020

Yaounde, 19 May 2020

Fellow Cameroonians,
My dear compatriots,

I usually do not address you on the eve of our National Day. Traditionally, this is an occasion to celebrate, with joy, our national unity as well as our republican and democratic values.

Today, the context is different. Cameroon, like most countries in the world, has been affected by COVID-19. Our health system is mobilized to combat this terrible disease. Various measures have been taken to stem the spread of the disease as announced by the Prime Minister. It is necessary to scrupulously follow all the instructions that have been issued (wearing of face masks, social distancing, frequent hand washing). This is crucial for the health of everyone.

Under these circumstances, it was not possible to maintain the festivities marking the celebration of our National Day due to the gatherings it entails. Of course, it was with some reluctance that I took this decision. However, since my main concern is to preserve the health of my fellow compatriots, there was no room for hesitation.

Most of you have understood that it is necessary to put aside political squabbles and adopt a common front in the face of the insidious danger posed by COVID-19. Some political leaders who do not belong to the ruling majority shared this view. I thank them for that.

We have also had the pleasure of receiving assistance and encouragement from friendly countries, international organizations, national and foreign business leaders, as well as various personalities such as Mr Jack MA of the Alibaba Foundation. I wish to thank them here and now on your behalf.

• My dear compatriots,

The first thing I would like to tell you today is not to panic and not to believe in fake news conveyed especially by social media. Admittedly, this is a daunting challenge. However, we can meet it together as we did in many other circumstances.

I also want you to know that the Government, at my behest, is doing its utmost to bail us out of this serious health crisis.

As I have said, protective measures have already been taken to counter the spread of COVID-19 in our territory.

Despite these efforts, the number of infected persons keeps increasing daily, thus indicating that the fight against this pandemic is complex and difficult. I therefore call on each and every one of you to get involved. Each of us must comply with the measures that have been taken. This is one of the conditions for us to achieve the desired victory against the virus.

I strongly urge all political, religious and opinion leaders, all officials of associations, all traditional rulers and all dignitaries to fully participate in the fight against COVID-19. Of course, this should be done within the framework defined by the Government and in compliance with the laws and regulations of the Republic.
• My dear compatriots,

I would now avail myself of this opportunity to extend my sympathy to the families that have lost loved ones to this terrible disease. I extend my heartfelt encouragement to patients admitted to our hospitals and wish them a speedy recovery. I also call on those who have tested positive to strictly adhere to the rules of confinement.

I also wish to hail the courage of Cameroonian health professionals and those assisting them. With the resources available to us, they are doing the utmost to treat those infected with the disease. Indeed, they are not giving up in the face of the gravity of COVID-19 infection. The Nation, through me, congratulates and urges them to keep it up.

As you are aware, following the outbreak of the pandemic in our country, a Special National Solidarity Fund to Fight the Coronavirus has been set up, in addition to the protective measures I have already mentioned. I have taken measures, within the limits of existing resources, to ensure its initial replenishment with the sum of one billion CFA francs. Additional resources could be provided depending on changing needs on the ground.

I take this opportunity to congratulate our fellow citizens who have already made contributions. I call on those who can, to do same. National solidarity so requires.

In our current struggle, the Government will go to great lengths to combat any manipulation or exploitation of this tragedy for political, economic or social ends.

• My dear compatriots,

I would now like to draw your attention to the economic consequences of this health crisis.

Today, we are facing new challenges resulting from the collapse of stock markets, falling commodity prices and an unexpected sharp decline in trade. The coronavirus pandemic will therefore have a negative impact on the global economy as well as our economy.

Of course, we will have to return subsequently to the path of growth, while ensuring that jobs are preserved as much as possible during this period of uncertainty and difficulty.
I urge the Government to continue to be mobilized as it has been doing since the outbreak of this health crisis. In an unprecedented social context, it should, in particular, be resourceful and inventive to maintain our financial balances, contain the rate of inflation, ensure the continuity of public service, especially in the education sector, and regulate economic activity so as to safeguard social stability and peace.

On the health front, despite the increase in the number of people tested positive for the coronavirus, the situation can be brought under control. We will therefore spare no effort to check the spread of the virus and reduce the mortality rate resulting from the pandemic.

The global health crisis triggered by COVID-19 will undoubtedly mark a turning point in the functioning of our society. It requires that we continue to strengthen our health facilities, scale up our healthcare services and, above all, update some of our development projects and programmes.

On another note, in the face of this ordeal, our health system must be more efficient. The other diseases affecting Cameroonians just as much must not be neglected. The same should apply to the routine immunization programme. That is why specialized COVID19 treatment centres have been set up in Yaounde and Douala. Others are being established in regional and divisional headquarters.

• My dear compatriots,

Before concluding, I think it is necessary to briefly review the protective measures put in place to stem the spread of the coronavirus. Most have already been implemented and are certainly contributing to slowing down the spread of the pandemic.

However, in view of developments in the health situation and the effects of COVID-19 on our economic and social life, it was necessary to make some readjustments. I therefore instructed the Prime Minister, who had already made two statements on the issue, to announce new measures and adapt others already being implemented.
This was done on 30 April with all the necessary clarity.

I would like to specify the spirit of the 19 measures taken late last month without revisiting the details. The aim was basically to mitigate the impacts of the pandemic on the national economy and the life of the most fragile households. The encouraging lessons learnt from our COVID-19 response strategy enabled us to take relief and support measures for the economic sectors and persons most affected by the pandemic.

These measures seek, among other things, to:

- ease social life and the movement of persons;
- suspend the payment of some taxes, dues and contributions;
- support ailing businesses; and
- increase the amount of family allowances and some retirement benefits.

It goes without saying that these relief measures do not exempt us from complying with “barrier gestures”, particularly the wearing of face masks in public places as well as the ban on public gatherings, aimed at checking the spread of the pandemic.

I therefore call on Cameroonians to have trust in public authorities. The Government is fully aware of the gravity of the situation and is prepared to take all necessary measures. I can already state that:

- as soon as a treatment is found, steps will be taken to put it at the disposal of our fellow citizens; before that,
- the wearing of face masks in public places will be mandatory until further notice.

To that end, the local industry should continue to engage in the manufacture of face masks and alcoholbased solutions in strict compliance with Government and WHO prescribed standards.

I know I can once again count on your patriotic spirit, your sense of responsibility and your courage to enable us to collectively overcome this scourge that is affecting the entire planet. In this connection, we should avoid stigmatizing those suffering from the disease. Everyone must feel concerned and contribute their quota to the fight against the spread of the virus. We should bear in mind that negligence by a single individual can seriously harm the entire community. We should therefore not be complacent.

Fellow Cameroonians,
My dear compatriots,

You have certainly understood that we need to make a lot of efforts to fight COVID-19 that may pose a threat to the stability of our states.

During this difficult period, we must remain a united, supportive and disciplined people.

I therefore appeal for a kind of “united front” of all the vital forces of the Nation against the coronavirus pandemic. In that connection, I commend, once again, the attitude of virtually all political leaders and religious authorities who have accepted to join in this national struggle. I also encourage all efforts geared towards developing an endogenous cure for COVID-19. Let us channel all our energies towards fighting this common enemy.

  Long live the Republic!
Long live Cameroon!

Cameroon English Newspaper Publishers Association (CENPA) Seeks Journalists Safety as they Combat COVID-19

Cameroon English Newspaper Publishers Association (CENPA)
Seeks Journalists Safety as they Combat COVID-19
This focal point of view and general plan of action was made known to the public in a press conference organized by the President General of CENPA Ngah Christian Ngah in the Guardian Post Conference hall on the 15th of May 2020.
Here, English language newspaper Publishers in Cameroon in the course of passing accross their message or plan of action on stepping up health security measures for and arround Journalists when they are in the field exercising their respective functions at the mercy of COVID-19, used the  opportunity to brainstorm on general and practical or key issues affecting the Corp and profession.
Speaking at the Press Conference CENPA President divourged that, since the Advent of CORONA and the the fight wage against it on all fronts in the country, no particular attention has been paid on Media men and women who have been playing the major role of educating and sensitizing the public at the mercy of their lives. According to him, the lives of Journalists are mostly at risk as they are more exposed and vulnerable to the virus as they go out on Coverage.
"Where we are he said, there is absolute need for Journalists security to be stepped up in order to sustain the fight against COVID-19".
Going by the rate and speedy rise in the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Cameroon to the tune of over 3500, there is absolute need for Journalists to be well armed to face the challenging days ahead.
In order to facilitate the enhancement of the health security safety measures onto Journalists, CENPA donated, hand sanitizers, catoons of soaps, face masks and adapted wash hand buckets to media houses arround the nation.
Media houses in the centre Region and South West received their own quota last week. This week is set for the North West and the Littoral Regions.

Revelation: CORONA Virus is Canivirous,
Looking at the rate at which this dangerous disease, call it better still "Animal" has devoured mankind.
The fact that COVID-19 by it's very nature spares no one makes her king of not only the jungle but king over humanity after Satan.
The Advent of this virus call it spacie of an "Animal" in the world, has set total chaos, commotion and confusion arround the universe.
A virus which spares no one and has ravaged a quota of mankind with an  undefine standard cure, deserve no better name than "Satan in CORONA Canivirous form".
Every one reading this article will bear with this insightful analyst, that there has never been a disease that has come to the world with such a devastating consequence burying fellow human's like flies and has terrorised the human race more than any monster.
The world at the "junction of confusion" created by the said virus is, with you permission "Formating it self" all because of CORONA and it's wild Canivarous nature.
As I report, mankind is at the mercy of collapsing and living by the special Grace of God.
Nobody can deny it as, half if not all of mankind has resorted to God for Divine protection.
Allow me bring in the case of a Major Cameroonian Prophet whose corps is presently lying at the Douala mortuary poported to have been killed by CORONA the Canivarous Virus and the situation is crowded with a lot of confusion, tension, fear and misinterpretation. One thing is clear here, a disease which spares no one, not even god's own Prophets who have the mandate and latitude to heal a multitude, means it is a virus to reckon with. " In the face of such a situation who are you and me? God have mercy".

Cameroon Allocate Over 800 Billion to Intensify Fight against COVID-19
The government of Cameroon made this known yesterday in a press conference that played host on the 14th of May 2020 Yaounde, hosting three Ministers, that of communication, Rene Emmanuel Sadi, Finance, Loius Paul Motaze and Health Manaouda Malaichi.
Here, the key Ministers basically and directly involved with major issues associated to the combat of Corona virus in Cameroon disclosed that they have been able to stretch hands left and right to mobilize financial resources to the tune of 800 Billion to add up to what is Handy to multiply and accelerate the fight against the pandemic at all front.
A chunk of this amount worth over 136 billion comes from the IMF.
In their respective presentation and response to questions asked, they were emphatic on the fact that a huge chunk of the amount will go into rapid health rescue measures, a quota, to boast the economic sector and the rest on other pressing social related issues including media campaigns.
According to them, combatting corona at all front is the last resort for Government as the number of positive cases keep rising exponentially to over 3000 .
In the direction of explioting indegenous medicine to beef up phamacetical or clinical approach, the Minister of health affirmed working in sernergy with the Arch Bishop of Douala Samuel Kleda and all other basic researchers to come up with a strong medication for the treatment of the virus in no distance time.
The steps and strides are daring and reassuring. Hopefully the days ahead are promising for Cameroon's COVID-19 situation irrespective of the laxity observed by the common Man after government came up with relief measures of late.

Santa Mafia; Why Fru Jonathan Owes Dr. Chi Azafor Apology

Santa Mafia:
Why Fru Jaonathan, the MP Kumasi Simon Owe the Santa CPDM Caucause Apology
- Most especially Dr Chi Azafor a level headed politician, a Visionary State Man and a  Highly Venerated Lagendary Icon.
The just ended Twin elections in Cameroon has a lot to ride home about political gimmicks and high level Mafia in Santa taking consideration of the socio political crisis rocking the North West Region and the unhealthy political environment that characterised elections, most especially during the elections proper and re runs.
On a special note and focus we are pushed to dig into Santa files and archives after Febuary 9th, 2020 twin elections in Cameroon and the internal wrangles going on within the leading political party in the Sub-Division (Santa). One person, I mean one person, Fru Jonathan SG at the Ministry of MINES plus the present MP of Santa Kumasi Simon are responsible for all the squabbles and all the political misgivings going on in Santa.
The section President I must emphasis is the author and Genesis of the cold war going on within the CPDM party circles in Santa because he wants to be the lone cock to crow. According to him all must start and end with him and no other elite. As a Tiger, he has personally divided elites for personal ends and moves arround only with his praise singers and political psycophants.
Where i am heading to with this report, is saying it just as it is. I don't want to delve into what happened to campaign monies during normal elections and the Reruns but into how, the Mayor of Santa Fon Samkie Elvis of Baligham the II and Dr Chi Azafor of the National commission for Bilingualism and Multiculturalism who were very instrumental and gave Santa CPDM the much needed votes and victory later became the scape goats.
For all the contributions, sacrifice and votes brought in to secure victory for the CPDM party in Santa, there was a masterminded plot to kick out the Mayor from his throne, which he only countered at the last minute.
The case of Doctor Chi Azafor has now boiled down to witch hunting irrespective of all he has planted in Santa with the Caucause of reliable political gurus. This genuine intellectual's problem sterms from the fact that he is too straight and straight to the dislike of self seeking political adventurers who see his presence as a major threat to their selfish political ambitions and wishes.
The duo I am talking of, contributed a lot if not all to give Santa the much needed CPDM victory and their presence posses as a major threat to empty political figures who cumb corridor of powers in Yaounde with lies to support their arguments.
This write up is motivated by the desire for records to be set straight in Santa for it's social  political welfare. Too much lies and manipulations within the CPDM party circles is helping to kill party spirit and is further dividing Santa elite.
Now is not the time for political back biting and backstabbing, now is the time to unite force to fight Corona virus and to sink all political differences, while learning how to respect elders to harnesses a profitable and sustainable futur for all. "Not Belly Politic".

-State's her timely intervention is 50% remedy to the infiltration of the virus in the Region,

This health humanitarian emergency action according to her is a pace setter and a Civic responsibility. That is, coming in timely to help your people when they are much in need.
To the people of Momo where she hails she said "I must and I am suppose to do all it takes to raise so much awareness and look after their health needs".
At this precarious moment she emphasised at the Ntamulung hall where the event took place in Bamenda on the 7th of May 2020 that they, Senators should not be left out in the world's crusade against COVID-19.

Her actions it must be saluted because she is heralding plans of subsequent outings and why not consistent moves by his fellow colleagues to fight the pandemic in their respective are of competence.
Doctor, Senator Emilia Nkeze who doubles as a seasoned teacher, it must be noted is of the SDF party wing in Cameroon and has challengingly left her own mark on the history of our times in the direction of party politics.

2020 World Press freedom Day in Cameroon Declared "Blank

2020 World Press freedom Day in Cameroon declared "Blank".
This is by Media men and women in Cameroon who unanimously came to that decision in a Press confab that took place in Yaounde on the 28th of April 2020.
Here, Media men and women, Directors of Publication and owners of media houses resolved to give this year's World Press freedom day in cameroon a "blank check" to express their anger and annoyance with the Biya's regime and Government for down playing seriously on a series of rights and favor reserved to the Press most especially at this crushal point in time where the World is bringing all forces on deck to fight Corona virus.
According to all media practioners present, the 27th edition of World press freedom should be used to send a strong signal to the government and cause her to come to terms and reason with the Press.

First a signal in the direction of the respect of the rights and freedom of Journalists in Cameroon. Her rights to income, allowances and remuneration, rights to the payment of her accrued bills in the state treasury, rights to state subventions, rights to insertions and publicity etc.
What has made things worst and calls for action from the Media family in cameroon is the bad fate manifested by Government towards subsidizing media actions towards media campaigns in the fight against COVID-19. According to these practioners their rights were been toiled with by Government, who were and have been doing nothing in the interest of the press or to appreciate or recognize their ceaseless efforts in the campaign or fight against COVID-19.
Hear them, "this year's world press freedom day in Cameroon celeberated under the theme, the press without fear or favor, will go "solo". As we Battle with the COVID 19 virus it is also time for us to use the opportunity to send a strong signal to government officials who have always and have deliberately taken us for granted. It is unfortunate that for all the work the press has been doing Government has never extended a hand of appreciation. The press as a single body this year has decided that all her due respect must be given".
On the bases of the above premise, the Media world in Cameroon have decided to mourn with victims of the COVID-19 virus and to cause Government to see and appreciate the great works of the Press in the direction of educating and sensitizing the population against Corona virus.
