Noel Alain Olivier Mekulu Director General of the National Social Insurance Fund NSIF
CNPS (National Social Insurance
Fund) North West officials decision to block the accounts of Councils in the Region
surviving by the special Grace of God has sparked quite a lot of confusion in
Council management to an extent that it’s Mayors and staffs can bear it no
more.
News avails that tension has
mounted to an extent that they are all unanimously planning a general strike
actions to hold CNPS officials hostage for helping to block the normal
functioning of Councils struggling to survive in the midst of the Deepening
Anglophone crisis.
It should be noted as we
report that, no positive steps has been taken by CNPS to uplift the decision
with their bankers after the petition by the Union of Councils and the meeting
held calling on their attention to the great havoc their actions are causing.
Speaking to most of the
affected Councils and staffs, most have decried such a decision onto councils
struggling to survive with the confusion in the North West Region.
According to them, the
intention to go on rampage will be the best way to cause government to act fast
and listen to the plights of most of their Mayors and what they are going through
running Councils without revenue collection sources and quarterly payment.
Others wander and are almost
tempted to conclude that it is an indirect way by Yaounde to punish Councils
operating in Bamenda clandestinely instead of their Council areas or Municipality
for security reasons just like teachers.
Which is what they will not
take lightly for fear that it may become instituted since Cameroon only listens
to the language of strike action.
Coming back to Bamenda CNPS Boss,
the decision to block Council accounts should be on instructions from above
caring less of it’s outcome.
The general outcry is that
CNPS is saying people and Councils are not in order, are they also in order?
Following all the scandalous mismanagement and misappropriation reports that
have of late been in the news about the system and it’s officials.
Hard to bear, if Mayors and
Council workers are to honor their rendezvous before this month end, then, it
will pose more as an additional threat to the peace and security in the Region
which is even growing worst daily.
