Veritas: 2022 Cameroon BAR Election; “Why it’s but Normal for Powers to Move to the South West or Given to A Lady” for Gender Sake

BCM Ebah Ntoko Justice South West Lawyers Flag Bearer for Bar Presidency

It has always been the North West and the routine has always been the North West. History holds it on good records that from the very onset of the creation of the Cameroon Bar in the early 70s,(1974), that office has consistently and persistently been headed by lawyers from North West Province and lastly Region by Barrister Sama Francis.

Should North West take home that prestigious post again on the 18th of June 2022 with Barrister Mbah Eric running with Barrister Duga Titanji from the same Region? she will  be offering the 6th President in a line up of 14 legal minds who have held that post since creation. We are talking of the Pioneer President, Fon Gorji Dinka, Barrister Ben Muna, Luke Sendze, Akere Muna and Barrister Sama Francis of late.

After the all memorable era or days of Barrister Eta Besong Junior South West has been on break for long. 2022 comes with the unique opportunity for the South West to take the upper hand to revamp and reanimate a one time dormant Bar under Patie Tchakoute.

NOWELA (North West Lawyers Association) as against FAKLA (South West Lawyers Association) to be frank has donated quite a good number of Bar Presidents and it is but normal this time for NOWELA to give FAKLA that God given opportunity.

If for all these while South West Lawyers have thrown their weight behind North West Lawyers for them to pick the crown of the Cameroon Bar consistently, it is but normal this time around, for North West Lawyers to front for a South Westerner in the midst of increasing pressure from their Francophone counterparts to enable the flag of common law fly high in Cameroon like that of the UN in the world. Meaning if all Anglophones rally behind an Anglophone, which is not even the case, they will affront their rivals strongly.

Barrister Sama Francis handed the baton to  a Francophone Charlse Patie and it is but normal that power should rotate and most necessarily move to the South West.

The Cameroon Bar knows quite a good number of authoritative names in the South West that have made it in the Cameroon legal system or before the courts and deserves a better place at most, this time in the Bar.

South West Lawyers without mincing words will only have their own faire share of the cake, if given the push factor and the moral booster by it’s North West counterparts as campaigns deepens.

Not giving the South West a chance to head the Bar gives the lee way or opens the door for another Francophone lawyer to take up Presidency most especially as they have at the head of their campaign lists a very powerful and instrumental go getting Barrister, Ngoulla Alertte Fotso the “Margaret Thatcher” of the house.

A lady for that matter who has tried her hands severally to take up Presidency to no avail. Her coming in this time should be with full force, leaving no stone unturned.

Any mistake, by men Lawyers, I mean from the North West and South West Maitre Ngoulla Alertte Fotso will grab that prestigious office through a slide victory as a woman. Given that it will also be a unique opportunity for the voices of women to be over heard in the Bar for gender sake.

Coming back to FAKLA (Fako Lawyers Association) the one Billion dollar (1$b) question is amongst the cream of Lawyers contesting who carries the mandate, the mantle and benediction of all South West Lawyers Association?

BCM Ebah Ntoko Justice an experienced member of the Bar Council for over 10 years, who believe in the adage that “WHAT BRINGS US TOGETHER IS STRONGER THAN WHAT SEPARATES US”. Stands out tall for now comparatively amongst all other aspirants following his legacies at the helm of FAKLA and in his career as a legal practitioner of exceptional class.

The former CCASTERIAN born in the second half of early sixties, heads Justice Law Firm Mutengene a renown law firm that speaks for itself.

He bears as vision, to strengthen the Bar, seek her Monopoly and source for her Independence.

Adding to his great vision, he has plans to open a law school to ease entrance exams and proper training of lawyers.

Coming back to the stakes of the grande conclave;

The real match encounter is between Barrister Ebah Ntoko Justice and Maitre Ngoulla Alertte Fotso. And if Anglophones dare make the error to pick the office of the President of the General Assembly first, the Presidency of the Bar will automatically go to a Francophone.

Where we are the aspirants are many just like the camps. Division, double dealing and the game of interest will not play favorably well for Anglophone lawyers. Guess what, all the shady deals played by Anglophones may end up playing favorably for Maitre Ngoulla Alertte a female legal right advocate for over 30 years who has the money and is ready to spend to rescue the Bar. Not some of the loud sounding aspirants who are not ready to spend a frank. A Good gospel without money does not give listening ears.

Money has now taken central stage of the campaign whether the public like it or not and it is money speaking and it is now the air ticket to decipher where each lawyer belongs ahead of the grande rendezvous.

The Aspect of Gender

Going by records since 1974 a female lawyer has rarely found her rightful place in the Cameroon Bar. We are all aware that attempts were made by some but could not reach the peak. Even the Maitre Ngoulla Alertte in question we are talking of tried her hand eight years back (2015) but could not sail through. But this time you will bear with this analyst that she is not coming “in bear and empty handed” meaning she is coming in with full force.

Not only that, she is coming at a time when world forces of diplomacy are clamoring for the representation of more women in high offices. Note should also be taken that with the caliber of female lawyers we have in this generation, nothing should be taken for granted from any of them.

Who is Maitre Ngoulla Alertte Fotso

The bearer of the campaign slogan “Together we will Arrive” or attain our goals, The “Margaret Thatcher Tasha” of the house cum Iron Lady, is a seasoned Lawyers from Douala, holder of a Masters degree in Business law, retainer of most big financial institutions in Cameroon and abroad. She is a lawyer with integrity, high moral standing and of the exceptional class.
