Rev. Father Aloysius Fondong Abangalo is Now New Bishop of Mamfe Diocese

Appointed by Pope Francis II, before his appointment he served as a clergy in Buea immediately after ordination in 2006 and is presently a lecturer at the St. Thomas Aquinas Major seminary a branch of the Pontifical University in Rome.

He is the third Bishop to hold office of the Mamfe Diocese after Bishop Lisingue and Famous Andrew Nkea of the Bamenda Arch Diocese.

The Papal appointment of 22nd February 2022 comes to fill the vacancy in the Diocese for some years and comes to Christian faithful of that area as a long delayed blessings.

Exc. Msgr. Aloysius Fondong Abangalo, from Bangwa was born on June 5, 1973 in Limbe, in the Diocese of Buéa. He studied Philosophy and Theology at the St. Thomas Aquinas Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Bambui, in Bamenda. He obtained a Licentiate in Canon Law from the Université Catholique d 'Afrique Centrale UCAC (2011-2014). As a student he also served in the Parish of St Peter and Paul in Simbock. Since 2019 he has been in Italy for a Doctorate in Canon Law at the Pontifical Urbaniana University.
He was ordained a priest on April 20, 2006 for the Diocese of Buéa. He has held the following positions: Vicar of the Holy Family Parish in Limbe (2006-2007); Dean of Our Lady of Grace College in Muyuka (2006-2007);

Diocesan Treasurer and Member of the College of Consultors (2009-2011); Teacher and formator at the St Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Bambui and Defender of the Bond at the Interdiocesan Tribunal of Bamenda (2014-2019). (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 22/2/2022).

As we report, Exc. Msgr. Aloysius Fondong Abangalo, has technically taken office while in Italy, Rome and will soon be inducted officially by the Pope and handed, the Gracious staff of honor.
